i just bought a Nokia N78 Unlocked 3G GSM Phone with GPS, MP3 Player & 3.2 Megapixel Camera

im having trouble with the multimedia key. when i pres it, its not showing the multimedia menu. it just refresh the screen.

Often it's necessary to do a "revert to factory default settings" to get some functions to work.

Enter *#7780# from the standby screen. If you're asked for a security code, the default on all Nokia phones is 12345 (unless you've changed it).

This will reset all of your settings but preserve your data.

i did try to Enter the *#7780# from the standby screen. and still nothing changes.

and by the way. my nokia n78 DOESN'T come with games nor n-gage.
is that really like that?

Strange, I've never had any problem with the multimedia key with my N78.

Suggest a hard reset (*#7370#* from standby). If that doesn't work, try upgrading the firmware.

If all else fails, you may need to have it looked at by Nokia or replaced by your re-seller.

Good luck - I hope you get it fixed. I'm lucky and had a mostly positive experience with my N78 and it's a great phone.

hi flak4, you are so lucky! im so jealous that u got a PERFECT Nokia N78

anyways i did update the phone and still, nothing happened.

well what i did was i contact the seller the other day and this morning i ship it back to the seller which is i got that from buy.com and i ship it back to Florida. and the seller told me that they will give me the full refund.

JFTR, that's a soft reset. A hard reset is achieved by powering on the phone with the '*', '3' and 'multimedia' keys pressed down.

What you're probably thinking of as a soft reset (*#7780#) is just a "revert to factory default settings". Nothing is formatted.

i return the n78 already, by the way i have n96 now and i have a questions again. sorry for my ignorance

does your naviwheel working? and do you have the square thingy next to the battery? and how do you call that anyway?

coz on mine naviwheel. when im on multimedia menu and im going to try to rotate the navi wheel. its not working. dont know why, or is just like that.? and the square thing next to the baterry, i saw some people on youtube.com that there nokia n96 device has a square thing next to the battery, what is that for?

The N96 has no navi-wheel.

oh i think i was just confuse. what i was thinking was my old cellphone the nokia n78. coz that cellphone has the square thing (that almost look like a sim card) next to the battery bars on the upper right hand side of the screen. and what is that for anyways?

It's just an indicator that a memory card is inserted in the phone. There is no longer this indicator on the N96 since most people shouldn't need an indicator to remind them if there's a card in the phone or not.
