Ovi Maps/N8/CK200

Hi Guys,  Im having problems with the voice guidance on the N8. I have the CK200 car  Kit and set it to play all sounds. The phone connects and everything comes through the audio system except the voice guidance.I have searched all setting on the N8 and cannot find any way of switching voice guidance on or off when connected to carkit. Any one any ideas.

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200

I am having the same trouble hearing the maps voice guidance from my N8 through my motorcycle helmet Bluetooth headset (Scala Q2). I can hear music, voice commands, etc. but not the maps voice guidance.

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200

Hi Folks,  Here's a further update....Just received my car holder(CR122) and the satnav is now totally pointless as the speaker is muffled by the holder and  the only sound you get when in the car is the muffled voice from the phone !!  Come on Nokia this is dangerous. The only way to navigate is by the screen and we should not be watching it. This we could understand if it was a mix of manufacturers but its three Nokia  products.

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200 Problem solved

UPDATE 16/10/10

Hi folks, If like me you need your satnav its time to download Sygic 10. Works fine on the N8 and plays the audio through the car kits.(well the three i,ve tested anyway)  Good clear graphics and crystal clear audio. Any one looking it check out google. It would be nice if Ovi maps worked, but at least Sygic is out there.

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200

The worst thing is I had a nokia 5800 before and the voice guidance did come through the bluetooth headset.  So they have managed to break it.

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200

I noticed that too.

When I first used BT with my N8 and Ovi map guidance, it worked, but the sound came through the handset and headset simultaniously.

Since then, I get nothing through the headset like I used to, only through the phone.

It was really handy to be in a car full of people and only you hear the guidance as maybe everyone is talking or listening to music.

I use a SONY HBH-PV705 headset which worked fine with my N79.

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200

What can I say? Bought mine yesterday and am totally disappointed. Before I had a 5800 and that worked fine. Now with the new N8 navigating is nearly impossible. All comes through the Headset but nothing from Ovi Maps! No one from Nokia here in the forums? That is a problem to be solved. I'm thinking of turning it back to the shop...:smileysad:

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200 Problem solved

Hi Folks,   We are now into March 2011 with the software update from Nokia for the N8 and a software update for the CK200 AND !! a software update for ovimaps and who would believeit ?  It still does not work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Come on Nokia ,what are you doing ?  Try talking to each others departments instead of microsoft and sort it out.  What is the use of these forums if Nokia won't pay any heed to what customers are complaining about ?

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200 Problem solved

This is not a direct solution or answer to your question.. but If you want to SEE the maps.. why not use a Bike holder till you get the Bluetooth working...???

Re: Ovi Maps/N8/CK200 'Problem solved' - I don't think so, because Nokia don't care.

The point is, that unlike a car driver safely cocooned inside their metal box with airbags etc., a motorcyclist needs their full attention on the road at all times, so looking down at a map to determine which exit to take at the roundabout even for a few seconds could be your last few seconds. The bluetooth to the helmet is not only a nice to have option - it could be a life saver! The original complaint is that it was available on the 5800xm, it is possible using the X6, but the state of the art N8 does not allow bluetooth delivery of the voice guidance from the maps software to anything.

Agree 100%... but my suggestion was just a shade better than what chukka is doing.. i.e.  'hold my phone in left hand to watch the screen while riding a motorbike.'

I think (hope) that chukka's comment was tongue in cheek.

The function to have text messages read to you by the N8 is useful, but sending one while riding a motorcycle can be difficult...:smileywink:

yes my comment was tongue in cheek.it must be quite simple to sort out navigation via bluetooth ???
