I installed latest Ovi 2 on my PC and when trying it out with my N97 id identifed 2 possible upgrades - one is to upgrade then phone firmware to V12 from V11 and the other was to upgrade Ovi maps from 2 to 3.
I have noot yet upgraded the firmware becasue i seem to have a rare thing - an N97 that in the main works apart from the odd gripe. However, i did upgarde the Ovi Maps. I was not offered a chance to say where i wanted it installed on my N97 (have I missed something there on OVI maybe?) and after the upgrade my C memory had dropped by about 4Meg to just over 26 Meg. Is this to be expected with the Ovi maps upgrade or is there a way of installing it on the Mass memory?
Thanks in anticpation

Hi Steveatesh,
Nokia Maps 2 is part of the phone firmware installed in ROM. When you updated to Ovi Maps 3.0 it installs this alongside the existing Maps 2 in Phone Memory. You are right - you're not given any option as to where this upgrade is installed. It goes into Phone Memory, end of story.
The same will be true of Quick Office should you choose to upgrade to the full editing suite. And also Nokia Messenger and a variety of other apps.
One of the promising things regarding the v20 firmware update, as I understand it, will be the inclusion of Ovi Maps 3.1 (with the 3D architecture) into the firmware, at which point you should hopefully get some of your Phone Memory back.
Incidentally, if you are hankering for the Ovi Maps 3.1 3D stuff and updated opening menu, check out the Nokia Beta Labs. It is available for download to your phone - just not over the Ovi Suite Updater, which will then prompt you to 'upgrade' to Ovi Maps 3.0 until the next firmware comes out or they make Maps 3.1 the current release.

Well v20 firmware update came out and nothing. They did not correct this issue. We continue to waste so precious little space of memory.
Let's wait for another update.
happy weekend everyone.
