On/off buttons.

The new 6500 classic and slide versions and some other Nokia models are coming out now without those buttons. I had a look at those phones and I am really bothered by that. For anyone who owns either of those models, can you tell me what your experience with the phone is like where that's concerned? On a related note, does anyone know why Nokia took them out??? Arrrrrrrrrgh!!!! Every time I get to rely on a feature, specially one that distinguishes the brand for me, Nokia ups and changes it. Why?

Also, I would like to know how you can temporary light up your screen for checking the time. With 6267, I have no idea how to do simple thing like that. The other Nokia models with on/off switch, this feature is a great innovation for the phone with keypad locking feature.

Re: On/off buttons.

I think you use the green and red key for that.

How do you turn the phone on and off then?

Re: On/off buttons.

God that is a step backwards. I prefer dedicated on off/ profile/ lock phone button.

Re: On/off buttons.

The lack of on/off button is not an issue, you quickly adapt to the new setup and the phone looks all the more nicer for not having the button at the top (plus the phone is way too slim to have an on/off button there !!!)

Re: On/off buttons.

Can't say the lack of an On/Off switch really bothers me. My main issue with the 6500 is that, from what I've seen of the spec, it doesn't take a memory card. What's the point of video and music players if you're limited to a lousy 1GB of internal memory?

Then your choice must be 6500 Slide. It is only ticker and bigger, but not much.

Hadn't seen that one: the spec does look a lot better .. though the it is nowhere near as cute.

Re: On/off buttons.

U can lit up the display by pressing the number "911", "112"

This is the easiest way for my N73ME, coz the power button is too high up. lolx...

Re: On/off buttons.

I've decided I'm actually going to avoid those models without the on/off switch for now, at least until Nokia gives me no choice. The old system is just more efficient. Assigning too many functions to one button is just more opportunities for things to go wrong.

Hmmm.

But I think that Steve Jobs (Apple CEO) would fire anyone who tries to introduce anything more than 1 button. :smileytongue:

Just joking. :smileywink:

Cheers.
