all I'll say is don't hold your breath. I emailed them early last week and received a reply saying that they (the customer rep responding to me anyway) has no idea if and when this will be released to O2 branded phones.
If you're in the same boat, I suupose the only thing we can do is keep contacting O2 and see if anything develops.

As far as I understood the OS only contacted O2 and not Nokia. I think he is doing well by letting other users know that they should email O2 and complain about it, don´t you think?

They are, however, telling the truth. Nokia has no way of knowing when V30 will be available to users of O2-branded phones because it depends entirely on O2. Nokia have no control over this.
If you want to pester someone, pester O2.

I've still not got v30 for my unbranded, direct-from-nokia 5800, bought directly from their online shop..
I feel people should stop claiming the networks are responsible for delaying releases of firmware (in this case O2) since Nokia can't release the firmware for their unbranded phones in a timely fashion.. I mean honestly, its nearly been a month and I still can't upgrade.. It clearly isn't always the networks fault, and imho I don't believe it ever is and I'd like to see some proof to the contrary..
So, if they've not completed the release for all THEIR handsets, I don't think it is yet time to complain to networks that their custom firmware isn't ready yet.. I think the blame is solely in Nokia's court at the moment.. but what can you do.

Blunt point.. you're wrong.. and you must stop using this false explaination.. it simply isn't true..

The "proof to the contrary" that you're looking for is the fact that branded phones get the updates after generic phones. Networks get the firmware for branding at the same time as users of generic formware get it,
I don't believe that to be the case.. it may be your opinion, but for reasons I'll go into below, I think it may be wide of the mark
so there's no way they can release their branded versions before the generic versions are released.
I have an unbranded phone stuck on v21.. bought directly from nokia. Branded phones are, however, already running v30..
so your comment isn't true... People need to stop blaming networks, particularly if networks specific firmware is available before unbranded nokia generic firmware
Most branded 5800s are stil stuck on V20.
But some aren't.. some are running v30.. Some unbranded nokia's however are still stuck on v21.. like mine
Meanwhile, it's pretty obvious that Nokia UK has completely dropped the ball as far as updates are concerned. It took them 2 months to catch up with the rest of the world for V20, while V21 came out fairly quickly (or was it the other way round? I don't remember) and it looks like the same is going to happen again for V30.
Ain't that the truth.. Seriously.. how hard can it be!?!? What amazes me most is the delay between COLOURS!! 2.5 weeks between black and white for the unbranded UK N97! You can't tell me there's any electronic difference between the two phones?! This is what irks so much!

Well I phoned O2 UK yesterday morning and spoke to a very cheerful person who said they weren't aware of the firmware versions but said the best thing to do was to email them and the details would be seen by the technical department who would get back to me.
Good.![]()
Emailed with full details of v31 now being out ofr many networks but not O2 and asked why.

Got a response very quickly saying they couldn't deal with my query via email and i should phone instead.![]()
Sounds like this is going to be a loop ![]()

Unbranded UK-specific models don't have V30 either.
I know for a fact that some unbranded UK models can get v31 firmware as a friend of mine has it on theirs. It downloaded it from NSU a couple weeks ago now.

A bit of progress. According to the the 'can I update' section of the nokia uk website, v30 is now available for 5800's on O2 (product code 0575581). This has changed since yesterday where v21 was still listed as the most up to date version.
I saw earlier in the week a posting on this forum from a Nokia employee who said that the late roll out of UK firmware updates was the fault of Nokia and not the operators. It is perhaps possible that v31 might be released soon too.
A changelog for v30 can be found on all about symbian. It appears to bring about many improvements.
