I recently purchased the xPansys USB Charger/Cradle 158786 for my N95, with the slot for the spare battery. The spare battery seems to charge to completion (that is, the LED goes from RED to GREEN after a while), but the N95 itself just keeps on charging. That is, the charger indicator on the phone itself is still going after over 12 hours, and the BLUE LED remains BLUE (though I don't know that it is intended to chance color).
When I use my Nokia-supplied charger, I get a "Battery Full" message after a while, but that has yet to happen with the xPansys charger/cradle. However, after leaving the phone overnight on the the xPansys cradle, I switched to the Nokia charger. The N95 continued charging, but only for a few minutes before indicating "Battery Full." But, if I then return the fully-charged N95 to the cradle/charger, it resumes charging with no end in sight!
This suggests to me that the xPansys charger/cradle is NOT overcharging or damaging my N95 battery, but perhaps has a microprocessor which differs sufficiently from the Nokia charger's so as to keep a "trickle charge" going (presumably with an asymptotic decrease in current/voltage over time).
Anyone know what's really happening? Thanks
