I got this phone less than a week and notice that when I take pictures right when I push the shutter button there's these weird looking line that appears across that flashes and disappears right when the image is taken. Does anyone else have these issues, is this a firmware or a hardware issue?

I would send the phone off for repair or exchange as with these first batches of Nokia new phones always have some sort of faults.

I have the N86 also and have taken several pictures with it, and do not remember experiencing anything like you mention. I just went and took a couple more pics with it to see if I could notice it, and I do not see it.

The lines appear when the camera is trying to focus onces it focus there are no lines and these lines thats flashes when trying to focus are really noticeable.

just send your phone back for an exchange or get it repaired under warranty.

thats BULL!!! Have it to! I buyed mine in Sweden! No HW issue as the pics turns out fine! Must be fw-bugs. It´s common with nokia-phones to have bugs

I don´t think its a problem. The lines only appear when focussing, on the picture they aren´t visible. So whats the problem with them?

I agree, its the way the phone focuses when the room is slightly dimly lit, the final picture shouldnt contain those lines. It's not a fault hw or sw!

The lines are very noticeable and yes it does not appear on the picture after it is taken, but this issue does not accrue on any of my nokia phone except this one. I hope this is a sw fix. The problem is it is irritating to see those lines when your trying to take the picture.

That i want to say, is that all mobile phones will appear ,at least, one problem "in their life".

Maybe its a "feature" of the new 8MP cam module...

Could be an artefact of the electronics. I know some solid state camera techologies have issues with "bloom" from particularly bright pixels over the rest of the sensor, and it that might be manifesting itself on the preview before the shutter is activated. It is supposed to be a high-sensitivity sensor after all.

These: "is it hardware or softwrare" questions cannot be answered by anyone here. This is not a Nokia repair forum. It is user generated. Only Nokia can say for sure and they probably won't. So the thing to do is to take it in for a repair, repeat the problem if possible and see what they say. This is the best way to be sure.

I think it should be the problem with hardware ;the lens-focusing mechanism ,sort of a electrical interference with the sound produced by the focusing mechanism. just like placing a running motor near a tv set.
