i only had the fone a week an 2nite will be its 3rd charge. the last charge it had was 2nites ago. my old n95 want even that bad i dont think. any ideas? it should be holding more charge time than that shouldnt av it? i charged it correct from the start aswel

as you said if you are charging the battery for the 3rd time in a week then i think it is normal
your N86 uses too much battery power when using the camera, especially when the Xenon flash is on,and while the wireless or GPRS is active , the modern N-series phones are draining the battery faster than the old ones like your old N95

ok first of all n86 has double led and not XENON flash. second every two days is not a bad result. given that it is a new phone and you have been playing with it probably more than with a phone that you are familiar with. i think it is not a cause for concern just yet. my n97 batt life was actually worse to begin with and with subsequent charges it became better. i can usually use it between charges for 1-2 days and that is good cause my n95-3 had to be charged mid day or at least every day cause it was dying by the end of a work day 5pm.

you could try saving more battery by doing the following:

- Turn Bluetooth off

- Turn Wifi off

- Put display brightness as low as you think its visible for your needs

- Turn from 3G Mode to 2G Mode (This is the most biggest battery drainer when its on 3G Mode)

how do u change from 3g mode to 2g mode? an what is the difference or what will i loose by doing this? im on 02 just incase u need to know like

the diffrenece between 2G and 3G networks is

in 2G contain gsm+edge
-gsm+gprs
-gsm+vas1
speed of bit rate is low
 

In 3G Internet connection is faster better call quality Video and Audio services but drains battery life quicker (twice as fast). Moreover coverage area is less than in 2G.
 

and you can change from 3G to 2G by going to (settings..>phone..>network..>network mode..>GSM(i suppose))
