Dear updaters
Nokia N97 software update 2.0
Nokia N97 software update 2.0 will be released in the coming weeks. The software update will make your N97 perform even better, through numerous fixes, improvements, new features and new functions.
What's new
The software contains many fixes and improvements including:
Software availability
As usual, we will publish standard non-customised versions of the software, with country (SIM-free) and operator versions following in the following weeks. The Nokia N97 (and several other devices) can check automatically for new software. Go to Menu > Applications > SW Update and enable automatic checking. MyNokia members will also receive an SMS stating "new software is available" as the deployment progresses. To register, go to www.nokia.com/mynokia.
Warm regards,
The Nokia Software Update team

a few minutes ago I've checked that new NSU version was available and I've just installed....I was excited because of that (I thought I could finally get the 2.0 update) but nothing happens...now, reading this post I know we should keep waiting for...

Thank you!
It's good (for us, users, and for Nokia) to read from Nokia instead of reading a lot of rumours.
So stay close, please.

I really hope they fixed the unlock slider BUG cause it's absolutely ridiculous (for a 600 $ mobile phone)that you have to press 3, 4 times the slider to get the phone unlocked...

Firstly to xbungle - Thank you for the update, Nokia should be out in the public domain doing more of this rather than letting rumours and speculation be the only information available. I thought this would have been obvious good Public Relations management.
Secondly - As has been said in other posts, the FW update will be coming soon so be patient. It will be much better to have a quality checked update rather than get another buggy FW release rushed to market like the phone was.

" In the coming weeks....."
Next year sometime then?
My N97 cannot even handle a small number of phone calls every day without locking up, and I'm waiting desperately for the new v2 to come round. I thought I'd wait for v2, see if it's improves the phone. If it does, I'd hang onto it, if not, then I'd sell it.
Looks like it's going up for sale then. No more Nokia's for me, the support ( or lack of ) has been garbage for such an expensive phone. Seemingly plenty of support going into making sure the N97 Mini and N900 are working well, but not so the N97?
It really is a joke.

I could not agree more. The whole N97 experience has been an absolute joke. The handset should never, and i repeat never, have been released to the public, many of whom have spent in the region of £500, for the privilige.of owning an inferior handset, that does not in any way resemble, the product, advertised by Nokia. I know that i feel, that i have been used as a "Beta" tester, and would never have gone near this handset, had i known the N900 was waiting in the wings.
Nokia, know that there are serious issues with the N97, and many disgruntled, and clearly unhappy owners.
Although, i am no way, doubting the existence of V.20, it is simply either ready,or it is not.
For Nokia, to be totally non-committal on it's release schedule, is quite simply unacceptable.
I think that this software, is not ready, but has beeen used as "Bait" to placate N97 owners from attempting refunds etc,as it promises to eradicate, many of the bugs and issues existent, and this so called "Flagship" device.
I will never buy another Nokia handset again.

is there a list somewhere witht he full bug fixes and new fatures that v20 will bring? for example will it fix the problem where people call you and it plays the nokia song even if you have something else set for a ringtone?
and does it play mp4 better?

Btw, have you tried the "slider" on your screen when you get an incoming call.? On the touch, slide your finger along the "arrow" to answer the call. Just a first gut feeling based on your comment...?
