Why, oh why, have they released this update for the far corners of the world, but left not only their beloved neighbors in Sweden but also the Finnish sitting in the dark. Come on! My phone crashed 4 times already today!

I find this one of the big problems I feel with Nokia right now. The lack of transparency.

It would be much better to reveal what problems they have found, and what problems they have fixed. Not only will that make people have more confidence in that Nokia actually is working seriously on the problems, and are actually putting a serious effort into this. But it also helps confirming that problems people have are known problems, and not some unknown handling error, or something related to something else. And also helps people in knowing that the problems they have either have been fixed, and they can expect the device to work better now than before, or else that the problem haven't been fixed, and they don't have to create another big hallabaloo about things not working even through they updated the firmware.

And it also helps people understand what the problems are, so that they can work around them, and use the device atleast within it's limits without getting nasty surprises from bugs that they don't know about, but Nokia do.

And it also helps to understand if we are seeing the same bug, or if various effects observed are in reality different bugs. This will help people understand how much problems and time it will take to get things in order. Yet again a confidence building action.

Nokia, however, is taking everyone on a ride, and is just telling us to trust them in the blind. How long do they expect to be able to do that???

 The Music player is a mess. You can't seem to add album art to an album. Only individual songs.

it's a pain when I have albums with 17 tracks or more and have to add the same image to each track one at a time

Plus it looks like this version can't be hacked. Meaning you can only install "approved signed apps".

That's like buying a stereo to then be told by the manufacturer that you can only play music that they approve of

hi all, i have readed on internet that netherlands can download the new firmware, but if i check my number than it's say's this:

ok, i waited for this FW for more than a month and gotta say, worthless. you want to hear something hilarious? yeah so my phone went into the lock mode and guess what, the damn  slider on the side doesn't unlock it, lmao, its locked now, guess i have to take the damn battery off.this is sad considering this is the first time i had to take the battery off in a week.

Honestly i have not seen that much difference so far, the only new widget i see is the wifi one and vlingo. one more thing i haven't tested yes i to see if we can install everything in mass storage or not but so far i give it a solid +F lol.

ok quick update, after reset the lock mechanism seems to be working now.

ok finally something good, i uninstalled  QuickIM+ and installed it again and it did ask me where i want to install it(as were before it would install it on phone memory). this is great. about time. now im going to try it with nokia email and  if it works then i think i can give it a B- lol considering lack of memory was one of my biggest problems

seems the double tap problem been solved. every now and then you have to double tap but most places single tap works. alright, just noticed a problem, in ovi store i think we need to have to double tap. its very sensative now and when i want to scroll down the page it goes in the first thing i click on GRRRRRRRrrrrRRRRRR. im using the keyboard for ovi store. guess i can live with that. damn its taking for ever to download mail for exchange.... weird....

It still installs nokia messaging on the phone menu and for some reason keeps giving me an error when im trying to install microsoft exchange... not good...

I'm upgrading the ovi store right now micdabe to 1.05 lets see if its any better... yup its good, no more taping problems, just had to upgrade the ovi store. thanks

I must say that so far, I am happy with the fw update. I did a full format before and after updateing the phone - and (so far) everything seems to work smooth as butter. Big difference in speed in loading/ closing apps and navigating in the menue. I think the kinetic scrolling works very well. So far it seems that it was worth tha wait.

Finally the n97 acts like a flagshipdevice. I hope i can say the same in a couple of weeks using the phone.

And if someone has any troubles, i would recommend a full formate/hard reset with buttons before and after the update. Remeber you will loose all your stuff - but you get a fresh phone without any buggy-bad apps.

As far as I can see... Great job Nokia. Now I may keep the n97 instead of throwing it out the window
