So i have a Question Fellas, aren't all the N97s suppose to be made in Finland? just curious because yesterday i was looking at my Box and it said made in China... anyways I'm not complaining that much because i don't have most of the problems other people do. guess for once its better being made in China than Finland huh?

Oh and by the way if you guys want to know how to have word prediction and auto completion while using the keyboard let me know. some of you might have figured it out but a lot of people seemed to have problems with it.

Nokia manufacture phones at several locations around the world, Finland & China are just a few. I have seen a list at www.nokia.com.
The quality and production proccess is the same in all the factories. Just because the chinese produce Micky Mouse copies of phones in backstreet operations does not mean that the Chinese are not capable of assembling a quality product in State of Art Factories Owned and operated by Nokia.
They all use the same components, machines, procedures, quality control etc. They only difference being it is cheaper to build and operate a building in China, the labour almost free - well cheap.
Having done the R&D which is not cheap, A N97 will cost Nokia about £40 a unit to produce and ship.

i gotta say.. i love your signature lmao so true...
btw heres my latest story
I was playing this game i downloaded " top gear " and waiting for my friend to come and pick me up as my car was in for service... he told me he was coming in half an hour.. i was waiting.. didn't want to call him after half an hour and thought i will just give him the time he needs..
after like one hour, i call him. He is **bleep** off at me because I havent been answering my phone!
I took his phone n dialled my number.. my N97 wasn't even ringing!!!!!! while he could hear the dialing tone!
I called my other phone , Nokia E66, and it was ringing to see if the problem was from my N97 or my friend's phone..
Then i switched my N97 off n back on, and it worked normally.
thats why I have to say, dis-connecting people is the perfect phrase to describe the N97

Too late Nokia ! I've been a "fan" for years (*some old models* -> 3210 -> 3310 -> .......... -> 6600 -> 6630 -> N95 -> N96 -> N97), but just jumped in the Android wagon and sold my N97 : wow.. SO much better user experience

Everybody here has had a proper rant at Nokia...
They are in the wrong...
The phone is a turkey... SO FAR...
But, look at the alternatives, Iphone is by far the most pretencious bit of kit you can buy... Featureless... The hardware is doodoo. The SE Satio looks to be a good phone (also S60v5, no hardware keyboard), but most have vowed never again to go with SE after the p990i... The list continues.
I am starting to actually like my phone. It's far from perfect. But if remember my N95 8gb, that was a sack of donkey doo before the FW was updated.
Can anyone actually say hand on heart that their N97 doesn't deserve a second chance (v20)? ;-)
I am willing to change my sig WHEN the phone works as advertised. But again I am saying all this in the hope that the N97 doesn't become the forgotten flagship phone after V20.
Nokia N97 - Dis-connecting People :-)
No, no, no. that's not true !
Specifically it does ! We N97 owners are like a big, big happy family.
Praising Nokia for this great phone
Otherwise we don't be here in this forum.

The iphone has the same problems... Its called coma state. I found with the n97 that keeping as little applications as possible on the phone makes it run much more reliably.
Thanks for the compliment about my sig... I will be removing that sig the day that the n97 firmware matures to n95 levels. ;-)

Do yourself a favour... Keep away from sony ericsson. Android may be good. But give the n97 another week... install v20, then if you are still unhappy move on to htc or motorola.
I would never buy or recommend an SE handset ever after the rubbish I had to put up with when I had the p990i. that phone tried it's damndest to get me fired from job at the time.

timmyjo.... How did u solve the "flash in the pic" problem? Wht hardware changes?
Any pointers will be highly appreciated...

My first post.
A little help from italy about the "flash in the pic"
Use a soft tin point marker black color
You have to paint the border of the glass close to the flash in the direction of the camera.
Try and you will see the problem is solved...
not my idea, from italian forum! but it work

80% of N97 Owners likely NOT GETTING v20 Soon
Hate to be the one to Pee on your Fires - When v20 is released and I believe it will by the end of October, but only for Generic Handsets.
80% of you will either get it late, very late or not at all. Any one in the UK will get it late. For those of you with branded phones will wait months if you get it all that is. You will be eligible for upgrades before you see v20. When you do, it will be bastardised by the networks and no doubt be full of bugs. Branded Phones will never perform anywhere near as well as generic ones.
I feel so sorry for the 80% that have psyched themselves up for v20 only to be bitterly dissappointed.
If the N96 is anything to go by, Generic phones will have v30 long before branded and UK non branded handsets get v20.
If I were you, I wouldn't waste any time on this forum - v20 is a sure thing now - but get onto the Vodafone eForum, 02 forum, T-Mobile, Orange, Carphone Warehouse etc. etc. Nokia, all be it late have delivered (except to UK generic clients). The Service Providers will absolutely, unrepentantly, mercilessly torture you for the months to come.
You guys think Nokia are bad - Go look at some of the forums above - Nokia are a walk in the park by comparison.
Nokia have a valid excuse, they are developing, improving, fine tuning, testing etc.
At that point, the networks have no excuse - They will tell you that they are improving and testing - what do they know more about a N97 than Nokia, the people that designed and built it initially.
Nokia have spent months to perfect firmware for this beautifull device, they will ruin it.
If Vodafone for example, wrote better firmware than Nokia, Nokia would employ them to do the job in the first place - Good business practice - Nokia do out source many other things including apps - for all we know N97 firmware may be the responsibility of a software house outside of Nokia. Maybe that is the reason they do not or cannot offer more information as to firmware updates.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but You Know It's True - All the evidence is clearly there - Wake Up smell the Coffee!!!
