Nokia N97 software update 2.0
Nokia N97 software update 2.0 will be released in the coming weeks. The software update will make your N97 perform even better, through numerous fixes, improvements, new features and new functions....
Warm regards,
The Nokia Software Update team
"...Perform even better...", Gosh, how can they improve something that already performs soooo well. Even better? Surely not! Cough cough, splutter splutter...faint...thud.

I've been holding out posting on here for the past 2 months or so that I've had my N97 as I'm waiting for a fully functioning firmware. But my frustration level is high like everyone elses. No, I'm not using any bizarre third party apps, I have factory reset the phone, I am running the latest firmware available and yet I still have to pull the battery at least once a day because of lockups. It will lockup either randomly, or after a call, or frankly whenever it decides.
$600 and we're still waiting for a stable phone. Who else thinks Nokia is pushing more towards Maemo and trying to patch this phone up and sweep it under the rug?
If this new firmware doesn't deliver a stable, quality product, we need to get organised. Someone should setup a website aimed at full petition/class action in the event the firmware flops and stability issues are still rampant.

Possibly a teeny bit ;-)
I still find it amazing that Nokia cannot simply be a little candid and upfront and say "Yep, we know your phone doesn't work, we're sorry, so we fixing the following problems (with detailed list of fixes) and we'll be releasing it at the following date and time".
It does wonders to just keep customers informed, the longer we're left to dangle, the more frustrated we become.
"Nokia, connecting people." Hmm. I'd like to connect Nokia's CEO to the National Grid with a pair of alligator clips. Mind you, my phone will still be utter sheet, but I'll feel better.

ROFL @ squarebear
If only Karma was instant.
@DiddyOt
I have calmed down somewhat... But you are right, it would go a long way to easing the stress if Nokia just admitted that they botched the n97, and that they are working on the problem with a release date for the firmware. I mean if apple can do it WHY NOT NOKIA?
In the mean time, I have been coming up with names for my n97...
Examples: Dr Doo-nothing, N-ninety-fail, N paperweight, Snap-crackle-and-crash... The list continues. I am willing to license these names to Nokia for free. ;-)

How is that possible? Are you telling that they updated it to v20?
24-Oct-2009 06:27 PM
Yeah thx a bunch, as your new Firmware update eliminated my Email settings and Facebook settings. Not even with restoring the backup I made before I got them back.

@ Sokkar:
U R laying!!!...I've contact Raya, I2 and other official distributer in Egypt, and they all confirmed V20 is not available yet...

I totally agree. I was trying to find out a complete list (or at least A list) of bugs they would fix in V20. Nothing.
Every lucky dude who has laid their hands on a v20 N97 says "it fixes some bugs". SOME bugs? seriously?
Why don't Nokia simply collect all complains and fix them all? (If they already did, wonderful and sorry for ranting) it's not that people haven't found them.
