Ive had this awful phone now for 6 months, and as much fun as ive had with this handset (NONE) its going on ebay as of today. Ive pretty much been in these forums daily since i got this phone which is a first for me, and im sure thousands of others have. I find it amazing that theres an actual forum to deal with peoples problems with this phone. Sure if your not sure how to do something on a phone its great to look up some help, but for thousands of people to be in the same boat over one phone is laughable, certainly when Nokia is supposed to be the biggest phone retailer in the world.
I actually feel sort of sorry for the person and persons that will be bidding on this phone to win it thinking that its the amazing phone its advertised as. Thus why none of my friends would buy it off me lol because they've had to hear the problems with it over the last 6 months.
I will be sort of sad to see it go, it is technically a good phone in some aspects, but the cons far out weigh the pro's. I will also miss the forums, after all, ive used them almost daily since i got this phone.
I'm either going for an iphone 3gs or the new HTC HD2, both of which will have there problems im sure, but at least i will know they will have different problems to the N97, theres only so many times you can listen to that Nokia tune before your head actually explodes lol

Nobody wanted to listen to me. That is why I got banned... For expressing my opinion.
Now, I've read few posts about seeling n97, I sold both my n97s. First was sold for £260 in 30 minutes on ebay, and the second one was sold in literally 5 minutes for £259!! I paid twice more for both...

I too sold my first one and got £320 for it, but that was 6 months ago, fingers crossed this one can manage a sale of at least £250, thankfully i got them both free through contract. But the endless problems and nokia tune have became tooooo much to deal with from a phone. Im also sure there are many N97 owners that are going to get the N900 as soon as they can. True this handset looks set to be everything the N97 should have been, but for me, i couldnt care if it had 4 times the power/memory of the N97, Nokia have lost any chance of ever getting my custom again due to burying there heads in the sand with this product.

best to sell it to one of the sites tthat take your phone as **bleep**, you get over £200 for it (and you get to keep the box and so on *you can seel this on ebay)
i say this as you may get the buyer asking for a refund as its a load of **bleep**
i am doing the above and then buying a n900 thats on pre-order
the phone rules and its only the 1st firmware my god

I checked some of these sites a few months back when i thought about selling, unfortunately the N97 wasnt listed on any of them, ive just checked a few however and can see that this phone is now listed in them. The downside of course to this is that they dont offer you very much money for your phone, approx was £200-£230. Fair enough you get to keep the charger, headphones etc etc which i have no need for. £247 was the best deal i could find though, which im currently thinking about taking, this site requires the box and charger etc for this price which i am more than happy to supply.
The downside is the possibility of making a little more from the handset on ebay, as i have a near perfect phone, the box and all accessories plus 10 spare anti-scratch screens. There is also paid for downloaded content included with the phone. This would hopefully push the phone to over £300, however, ebay and paypal would of course be taking their share from this so i am thinking very carefully about this now.
Does anyone have any info on these sites, are they trustworthy etc?
Btw j2001m, were you hinting at selling the box on ebay without the phone actually inside and listing it as being a brand new phone in a sealed box?

Nope, i mean you can then sell the box and all the things in it apart from the phone and the bat. (about £20)
Please note you may find that you get no mony and no phone when using ebay!!!!!

Yes, seriously! Maybe more the indoor market type or proper second hand mobile phone shops often located nearby markets.
I have done this before and got good money (admittedly for a less expensive phone"
I'm sure if you still have the receipt to prove you are the rightful owner, I am sure you will not have a problem.
Otherwise, Cash Converters is another good option.

What? Have you people actually used ebay? and paypal? This is the safest method I know of.
I keep selling and buying stuff on ebay. Have over 250 transactian and maybe 2 solved issues since. If you are buying by paypal you are safe. Ifyou are selling by paypal you are also safe. It is all insured etc. Only when paying by a bank transfer - that is not safe at all.
You want over £300 for it? Good luck.

Ebay is great and I have sold lots on it but with phones you get many scammers putting bids in when they have no intention of paying - I'm not daft enough to be fooled by these scammers but they can **bleep** up your sale and you have to relist on several occasions.
All I was pointing out was that you can get good prices for your second hand phones from many second hand phone dealers and there is a lot less hassle and no risk.

Come on Nokia - *bleep* up is hardly a swear word that needs bleeping!
Administrator note: Given that we're a global forum with tens of millions of visitors a year, trust me: the word needs to be filtered even if there are expressions where it is ok. Cheers, vandelay

Well today was a sad day, i packed my N97 back into its little black box, then into a jiffy bag and then said good ...RIDDANCE!!
I sold it to one of those recycle websites and was offered the going rate for what i could have got on eBay. I couldnt be happier. Im also currently using a cheap bottom of the line sony ericsson phone in the mean time and id rather have the cheap phone than endure another day of N97 problems.
My advice to N97 users that arent happy, get rid while you can still get a good price for this terrible handset.
