Nokia N97 - Virtual Qwerty Removed?

I saw in some demo videos presenting the phone that there would be 4 different ways of inputing text.

-Qwerty

-Handwriting

-On screen keyboard

-Virtual on-screen mini Qwerty keyboard

I bought the phone recently and I discovered that the fourth option is not there.

Can somebody confirm that indeed this option was removed from the final version of the phone?

Yup. That was removed. As were the transition effects seen on all the demos.

And instead they added a self scratcing lens and a dodgy gps...

Result!

Re: Nokia N97 - Virtual Qwerty Removed?

The last three beta firmwares before the initial release version never had it either.

The first images were based on the phone running an adapted version of the 5800's firmware.  They probably removed it as they thought it wouldn't be necessary due to the phone having a hardware qwerty keyboard.

If you really want the feature you can request it here:

If enough people ask it may happen.
