You might have downloaded NOKIA MESSAGING SERVICE APP before 30th September. If so then that might be your problem as the testing (FREE) period ended at the end of September and now you have to download it again and pay a monthly subscription.
Hope this helps

I have the same error, whenever I select retrieve email, the app goes through the process of checking but does nothing, I can see there are emails on the Ovi email site, however the emails will not download to the phone, this fault is accross the board for any email account I setup whether it's Ovi mail or nokia mail.
Whenever I select settings from the options menu in email app I recieve an error message 'Messaging: feature not supported' funny though as email app is a bult in app, yet something has corrupted it.
I'm curious to know if anyone from Nokia ever read these messages, because nothing EVER gets done about these apparent issues that are affecting many users.
