Nokia N97 Hardware Flaw

I bought the N97 along with a belt case (the magnet type) couple of months ago. At first, taking out the phone from the belt case would always start the phone in camera mode even though the phone was locked. I kept telling myself maybe I moved around too much and unlocked the phone and pressed the camera button, but that was not the case after a recently discovery. Whenever the camera is made contact with a magnet it will deactivate the lock and active the camera mode. (Very freaky!!) Try it and let me know if this happens to you as well.

Re: Nokia N97 Hardware Flaw

You are right, just activaed my n97 substandard and passed a magnet over the camera shutter area and the screen went straight to the camera mode screen.

So and carry case with a magnet is usless for this phone

They must be using a cheap mechanical switch for the sliding shutter

Re: Nokia N97 Hardware Flaw

I wonder if Nokia is going to do anything about this??? This is truly a flaw and needs to be replaced! Sigh...this will be my last Nokia ever.
