I have brought this new N97. the camera does not work sometimes when ever i open the lens cover the screen appears blank and infact the videos in my mobile phone also does not play, only the sound is heard. I have to do the Factory Reset then only it works fine and resetting it works for few time and the problem occurs again.

I Can't keep on resetting the phone again and again it has the latest software update V20.

Can anyone know to to overcome this problem permanently?

I have the same problem, but nobody knows how to solve it, I'm hoping the new firmware v21 will help, but since I'm with a phone branded I have to wait until the official branded version gets released.

If you solve it, please tell me how.

In my case I have to take a photo or video, then close the app, and wait like 30 minutes before using it again, in case I try to use the camera befor that I have to reboot to be able to use the camera, and sometimes that doesn't work either.

Thanks for the suggestion Buddy..I wil try and inform you if its working...I will also try the new update once released. I had taken my phone to the care centre even they were surprised to see the problem.

I will be giving my mobile tomorrow to care center lets c what resolution I get from them

I tried updating it but it only showing as Software version 20 as a updated one for India

I have the same problem with the black screen, I have the firmware version: v 22.2.110 date: 11-06-2010

Please let me know if someone have any idea, to solve these problem

Same happening in my N97, the camera is now not loading at all.

Hopefully this can be fixed with a firmware update.

Hope I'm not stating the obvious, but the default saving location for Camera is C phone memory, try setting to E Mass memory, a couple of photo's on C would soon kill the N97 !
