Nokia N96 Email configuration

Hello,

I am having poblems setting up my Yahoo! email account on my N96. The wizard is completely flawed! The wizard automatically, after entering my yahoo username, password, and email address, assumes that this is a IMAP account. I want my mail to be POP3. There is no option to select it.

The incoming server and connection page lists this account being an IMAP and it is not allowed to be changed. Has someone been able to successfully set up their Yahoo! account yet? If so, please post their settings please. By the way, is there any way to get around using the wizard? Setting up my Yahoo! mail on my Nokia E90 and Nokia N95 was simple and fast.

Thanks,

Dr_Nitun

Re: Nokia N96 Email configuration

On my N96 it says connecting, but it keeps poping up saying enter mailbox user name and password, even if you enter the details, it does the same thing.

I think the free yahoo mail does not support this.

Re: Nokia N96 Email configuration

You cant use pop3 if you're using free Yahoo!. The settings for free Yahoo! is imap.

The settings are

incoming mail server: imap.n.mail.yahoo.com

mailbox type: imap4

port: default

outgoing mail server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com

port: 587

Re: Nokia N96 Email configuration

Even with that settings, it still pops up a box and asks for the mailbox user name and mailbox password, when you enter the details it will ask you if you want to save the password to mailbox settings, you hit 'yes', it saying connecting to mailbox and again asks for username and password.

but if for gmail it gives no problems at all.

i think best is to download the nokia email software.

But the problem with nokia email is that, after using it for some time, it starts eating up the memory on the C drive. which makes the phone slow...
