Re: Nokia N95 GPS Maps Navigation now free?

Hi Richowell i agree with you about the n95 navigation software. My partner and i are experts with tomtom and have used it since it first came out. At the moment we have a tom tom dedicated device and tomtom pda. I bought the n95 for a change. Since the firmware upgrade i'm impressed. i've tested itin the car and it didn't lose the gps signal once+the directions were clear and accurate. We will use this in Europe in the summer and going by it's performance in the uk it's pretty reliable. I think one of the things i had previouslydone incorrectly was not have the keypad on show. by opening the phone out the signal seemed much better.

I am thinking to buy Nokia N95, would you please tell me how it works, does it costs extra if I use GPS, how can I get free software and which costs I shall expect using maps.
Thanks for your input

GPS is free to use, the receiver in the phone just picks up signals from the global positioning satellites to work out your position.

If you use Assisted GPS (A-GPS), which uses the network to speed up signal lock, you will pay network data charges.

you will need to pay for the voice navigation via the option within the application.

Re: Nokia N95 GPS Maps Navigation now free?

Hi,
I have this same problem of only being able to find out full postcodes when I allow access to the network. The main problem being is that this costs me money.
I don't want to pay money just so I can find a full postcode. I've heard that on the old version of the maps software, this is not the case.
Is there a way this can be rectified? Otherwise what's the point in the maps software at all.

Silly Nokia.

Allo. To use the GPS is free?

Yes it is free to use GPS and Nokia Maps - assuming that you have used maploader to download the maps on to your N95, otherwise if you have "Use Network" set to "When Needed" if will download the maps either through your network or via Wlan, of which if the former, there could be a charge from your serivce providor.

Now to use turn by turn navigation, there is a subscription fee for this which can be bough via either txt message or credit/debit card. The subscription can be bought for either a week, month etc...

Hope this answers your question...
