Nokia Browser driving me insane!

Hey everyone,

I really hope someone can help me! I downloaded the new firmware for my N97mini, the v.11.0.045 i believe its called.

Now when I for example browse YouTube, except for the fact that it wont play a video in full screen because it just doesn't, sometimes the little arrow disapears, the one to pull up the sidebar. It simply disappears for no reason when I am watching a youtube video for example. Then I either have to lock/unlock it, or turn it, or just simply wait...and then it re-appears.

I know I know, Opera Mobile 10 is a lot better for some things, and I do use it too. But I like Nokia Browser for the fact that you can zoom by tapping it (Opera only has either full view or by tapping it you can only go one zoom, not multiple times), AND the fact that it supports flash of course.

Is there ANY WAY I can re-install the Nokia Browser to fix these glitches?

Thanks a lot! I would appreciate an answer!

Thanks,

Sasch

Sorry you can not just reinstall nokia browser AFAIK, but you can reinstall whole firmware with NSU & OVI and a reset does the same;

backing up phone's data is not good idea as once you will restore the backup, the phone will show the same problem(in this case the problem is with the built-in browser)

Re: Nokia Browser driving me insane!

Exactly, the problem is with the built-in browser, so I am guessing I have to either wait until Nokia decides to publish a new firmware for the N97mini, OR wait until Opera Mobile 10 comes out with a new version that supports flash.

Any idea on whether a new firmware will be coming out soon for the n97mini? Seen as a lot of users have not been complaining, however suggesting a whole lot of new things for the n97mini such as theme effects, etc.

Re: Nokia Browser driving me insane!

hmm, I tried reinstalling the current firmware. Unfortunately it didn't help, still has the same bugs.

I contacted nokia support now, lets see what they can tell me. If it won't help, then I can only hope Opera Mobile 10 will soon come out with plugins for symbian versions, so maybe we can all use flash on it.

If anyone has any other useful tips, I'd appreciate them a lot :smileyvery-happy:

Thanks!

Re: Nokia Browser driving me insane!

Been out for symbian since mid march   Opera Mobile 10 .

Dont know about plugins   but its non flash as standard    .

Looks like flash is on its final legs as HTML5  takes over .

Re: Nokia Browser driving me insane!

Ok guys, I did a hard reset, did not fix it. However it seems like the browser doesn't crash anymore, it just won't play some flash files.

Re: Nokia Browser driving me insane!

isn't the flash player a Flash Light version? Flash Light is not endorsed/supported by  adobe anymore (as they need the funding to fight Apple)

Re: Nokia Browser driving me insane!

If your firmware is installed properly, the browser would play the youtube flash video just fine. It will also give you the option to switch to the phone video player. Opera mini will also use the phone video player to play the youtube video. Opera Mobile will not play any flash videos (not even using the phone player). Skyfire will almost flash video sites but will not stop the phone display time off which is sometimes annoying. But what really hinders me is the not so smooth rendering of fonts when zooming or dragging. Playing the videos using the phone video player is also less memory, cpu, battery intensive.
