How do you ensure that there's caller ID on the Nokia 6700 Slide? I switched my SIMcard to this phone butI don't see the name of the person during incoming calls

The caller ID facility is from the Service provider.. Even low end phones support the same.. If you have only changed your SIM to other phone where it was getting displayed means your operator has already provided the service... Coming to the point, are the contacts stored on your SIM, or they are in the Old phones memory and there are no nos. on the SIM or your new phone !!!
Transfer the contacts to your new phone (you may use the Phone Switch function provided in most new phones.. because copying the nos. on SIM will loose the functionality.. e.g. if you have stored more than one no. against a single entry in the phone.. the SIM will not pick both..)

If the number is showing and not the name, it is caused by multiple entries, from contacts select options>settings and set Contacts to display to Phone Memory (caller ID won't work with Sim Memory) if you have no contacts in phone memory select mark all in sim memory> options>copy> copy yo phone memory. If caller ID still doesn't work check you don't have any multiple entries ie several contacts attached to the same number, your phone will recognise the number but won't know who's calling. Easiest way to check for multiple entries is to check contacts via Ovi Suite.
Good Luck
