Re: Nokia 5800 - poor battery

[ Edited ]

to be honest there is no real reason why charging would improve the battery

at all, even if you fully discharge the phone and recharge, this was a method

used on an older battery type that was said to suffer from battery memory effect "Nicd"

the battery in the 5800 is a modern Lithium-ion pack and is a totally different battery

here is a a guide the shows you how to do most of the setting talked about in this thread

Re: Nokia 5800 - poor battery

Even lithium-based batteries need to go through a few full charge/discharge cycles to reach optimum capacity. What sets lithium-based batteries apart from nickel-based ones is:

1) Nickel batteries should always be discharged before recharging them while lithium batteries like being charged as often as possible.

2) They have different charging methods.

3) Lithium batteries should be stored about 40% charged while nickel batteries should be stored depleted.

4) Lithium batteries are less prone to memory effect than nickel batteries, but it does happen sometimes. The cure is the same, a few full charge/discharge cycles and they're as good as new.
