Nokia 5800 music library problem. Music library corrupted?

Hi guys,

I got a problem with my 5800XM. After adding songs to the mem card and refreshing the library, the songs will be added but some wont play unless i play them directly from the file manager. The ones which wont play still appear on the music lib but i cant get them to play from the music player.

This is really dissappointing coz it means that i cant listen to Lisa Loeb's "Stay" and Lifehouse's "Broken" from the music plyr :-(

Please help. Your suggestions will be appreciated.

Try this and see:

You can do this to rebuild the library as it is corrupted.

Restart your device and then refresh your library. If this doesn't help then;
Connect the phone to your pc/lappy and put in 'Data transfer' mode.

To delete the library files:
- Ensure you can see hidden files in Windows Explorer:

Windows Explorer .. Tools .. Folder Options .. View

Select "Show hidden files and folders"
- Connect the phone to your PC using the USB cable in "Data transfer" mode
- Find and rename (or delete if you're really brave) files with names like:

E:\private\101FFC31\mpxv1.mpd
E:\private\101FFC31\pcv5.mpd
E:\private\101ffca9\harvesterdb.dat
(assuming the phone's mass memory / card has been connected as E)

Note that the folder names may be different and the files may have prefixes - eg: mpxv1.mpd could be called abcmpxv1.mpd. Basically, you need to search under the Private folder for any files that look similar.

Now just refresh the Music Player library and the job is done.

This will take longer than normal as it's a complete refresh, but it should now work.

Thanks loveuhateu(wierd name!!)

One thing our readers should also know is that the files mpxv1.mpd and pcv5.mpd won't always be in the 101FFC31 folder and they also wont have that exact name. What you should do is search mpx and pcv in the entire "Privater" folder. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Nokia 5800 music library problem. Music library corrupted?

Hey guys,

I also own a Nokia 5800 and of late, its been giving me issues.

The music library seems to be corrupted.

When I open the music player, and select the songs option, a message comes saying "File Corrupted. Operation cancelled."

I tried to soft reset it, as well as hard reset. Both haven't helped in any way. Please help me out with this problem.

Thanks :smileyhappy:

Where are the songs stored ? If they are on the Memory card then the Resets will not help.. You may need to Format the card..Copy data on to your PC.. Format the Card.. Copy data back to the Card and check...

BTW can you play the songs on PC when you connect your phone in Mass storage mode ?
