I got a Nokia 5800XM. My phone got some serious bug!
Alright, my micro SD card is an 8 GB card. In there I put all my photos, videos, MP3's/songs, installed softwares & apps, widget and much more. But sometimes my phone got data lost in memory card (since I update my firmware to V51.0.006 & till now my firmware is V52.0.007.
All my things in my memory card suddenly DISAPPERED! NOTHING LEFT IN MY MEM CARD! I try to check the memory card in the file manager, then it says total size of the card is 7.6GB. Space I've used is 2.5 GB.
Free space is 4.9 GB
OK, here is the question! If my card says the used space is 2.5 GB, where is all those things that suppose to be on the card? Nothing left in my card. My photos, videos, MP3's/songs, installed softwares & apps, widget and much more.. ALL LOST! Suddenly! (And already happen many times!)
BUT when I try to scan the card still the same. It says used space 2559 MB (which means 2.5 GB)
And Now....,
WHERE! WHY!
Is card already corrupted?
Broken?
Can't be use anymore?
Need to buy/purchase a new one?
Is my card right now, no quality?
Or a firmware problem?
NOKIA.. or Somebody help me...!!!!

Do you see any stored file in Windows explorer when you connect the Phone in Mass storage mode with the PC ? ..or if you have a Memory Card Reader..then thru' that ?
When connected in Mass Storage Mode.. Rt. click on the Memory Card -->Properties-->Tools-->Error Checking -->Check Now...see if this solves the issue..

Hello Guys
This also happened to me, the first time it showed me fatal memory error and than all my files on the memory card was gone. Likely I backed up all my files on my PC. The second time all my files on the memory card just vanished in to thin air. I connected it with to PC via USB and tried that error checking, data recovery and even defragment but it did not help. I do not know if it's the memory card ( still the original 8gb )or the phone that's going haywire.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP TO RESOLVE THIS!!!! ![]()

Memory card sometimes becomes currupt while you update the software / firmware through computer (dont know why). My experience is, whenever you update a software or firmware, take a backup of your phonebook and messages and safely remove the memory card. After software is updated and you want to download data only like, maps, voice navigation, images, videos ets. Re-insert the card and use. I have learnt the card gets corrupt mostly while a major software updation happens (something that NOKIA should improve upon).
Now, how to get your valuable data back. Not a guarantee though for all cases, but what’s the harm in trying when you don’t have a choice J. If your card is reading in the phone and says this much of free space and you know your files are there and the card is working but you can’t see your files by any means, try this:
Connect the phone to computer, as mass storage device. Go to my computer and right click on the removable disc (memory card) icon, click properties. Click on tools tab and press check now. Select both options, fix errors and attempt repairs. Click start…
After it’s done, you will see a hidden folder (turn on folder options in windows, to show hidden files) named FOUND.000, open this folder and you will be shocked. It will have all your files there but all having extension *.CHK. now, this is the painful part. You have to rename the file extension correctly and then try open it to see if it works, if not try some other extension. You may arrange the files by size and generally the largest ones will be videos so try *.avi, less than 1 MB may be an image try *.jpg or *.jpeg. This is a very tedious job, but still you may get them back. Finally move these to respective folders which the phone might have already made in the memory card (sound, images, etc.). There may be files which don’t open whatever extension you try, you have to live without them, be happy with what you have got. And be even happier because you got most of what you had already lost.
Good Luck !!

you rename files easily by open cmd
then go to desire location where all files store.
then enter this command,,
