Initially I also thought that software upgrade could help, it was done 2 times by Nokia, unable to solve..

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

That's odd. I have had Nokia 5800 XM for a few months now and my clock has not changed and still matches the time on my other non-Nokia phone which I set ages ago.

Do you have auto-update switched on? Make sure it's off.

Go to your clock > options > Settings > Automatic time update: Off.

If it was on, you can blame your network for the time lost because the automatic time update checks your network's server for the updated time. Switch it off and it will work on your phone's internal time-thingy.

If it was off, then.. perhaps wait for the next firmware update?

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

Why o why can't people "just" ask a question or share an issue without overreacting and  being so melodramatic: "Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy" - this sort of response is so juvenile.

ALL  devices have problems - just look at the user forum for ANY device; the majority can be fixed and most are minor irritations at worst and more than often not the sort of issue to warn-off the whole world.

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

This is VERY VERY frustrating. A Brand new nokia 5800 xpress should not have any clock or time issues. My clock was losing 6 or 7 minutes per day.

Something needs to be done about this - does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

Ok both my partner and i have the same phones the 5800 music. Both bought on the same day june 1st 09. The only problem we have is that both phones have lost approx 14 mins plus?? in the period of 2 weeks. Both phones have been sent back under early life warranty TWICE each and a complete new handset (can tell different imei munbers and all) has been approved on both occasions. Optus and Nokia cant tell us what is wrong except that it is a fault with the phones?? How is that possible for 4???? handsets to have that exact same fault and how come nokia cant retify the problem?? Yes auto time is switched off everything is set exactly as it should be.. So what the?? Sorry but slightly frustrated when my partner espesially is on call for work 24/7. I would not have thought that with todays technology  that this would happen considering how many differnet types and designs of phones there are out there in the world. And yes extremely frustrating, like you would not beleive!! Setting an alarm on the phone 10 mins early just so you wake up and get to work on time?? Because of a stupid "fault" with the phone?? Explain that to a boss and have him not laugh at you..

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

[ Edited ]

i'm finding it hard to believe a digital clock (that runs on a battery that gets charged frequently) is running slow.

however, i believe it doesn't sync the CORRECT time with my computer (isync or cable)

what does 'auto update' do? i believe it doesn't correct the time, only changes the hour in places like the UK where clocks go forward 1 hour (& back again).

mind you, i have read this problem before. i'll monitor mine to see if it does same (i just got it back from nokia care point).

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

We have set the times on our phones to the same as everything else around us ie work, watches, microwave, dvd player etc. I wish i was kidding when i said that they lose time. I still cant understand how or why?? Each and everyone of the mobile phones out there in the world are mass produced yes, so how is it possible that only a "few" and by that i mean whatever portion of the total are made can have this fault?? Im more suprised at the craziness of the problem that its not something that nokia can rectify. And we have both had our handsets replaced twice??

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

maybe mine does have this fault, i'll have to watch it. i knew something was up with the time, i just thought that it wasnt syncing with my computer.

they should be able to sort it in another update... i wonder if it's fixed in the latest, afaik latest update starts with 3 something, i am on 21.something (was updated at NCP).

tbh it's not a major problem for me as i'm always in a place whith some kind of digital clock. but i would imagine having to change it so often would get really tedious.

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

I am having the same problem as everyone, phone is on manual clock update, and it runs slow 2 minutes every week. My 5800 is brand new, and bought it back in February 2010. Has anyone been able to find a fix for the problem?

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

Odd. I do not know a fix for this as this is the first time I have encountered this issue. However I would suggest you instead keep auto-update of time on, as it syncs your clock to the clock of your network provider.

Re: Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC dont buy - Clock is running slow - Nokia Care unable to fix...

That is odd behaviour but not totally surprising with the 5800. I do not have 'autoupdate' on but sync the time using  "freetimebox". Most days when it autosyncs (via NTP) the clock is about 3 secs out, but some days (with the same usage) it drops around 12-17 secs for no apparent reason. Switching off 'freetimebox' and synching manually shows the same effect.

So 5 mins per week sounds too much and Nokia Care should sort it, but a drifting clock is not unknown on the 5800
