you will have to download Quickoffice.
Goto: Menu - Download! - Aplications - Business - It should be selectable from the list there.

Hi,
From which site did you download the free quickoffice? Also just wondering it is free
for AT&T US customers also?

Quickoffice is free via Nokia if you go to APPLICATIONS and then DOWNLOADS and then APPLICATIONS and then BUSINESS.
This however, is the free read-only version. As far as I know, there is no version that will allow you to edit.
I have been using OfficeSuite for my Office docs. It cost me US$20 for the version that can read and edit Office docs. I don't find it easy to use, but it works fine.
As far as PDF reader's are concerned, the blood sucking scum at Adobe make you pay for it.

Hi,
Actually Quickoffice v4 for edit is free for AT&T customers in US. I have E71x and downloaded free license
for it. But now i am buying unlocked 5800 US version, so just wondering, if Quickoffice will still provide free license or not?

Since you are buying the phone unlocked it has nothing to do with AT&T or any carrier for that matter. It is about Nokia and Nokia only and NOT AT&T.
And if you go ot the QuickOffice site a little research on your end will tell you that QuickOffice full-version (that can edit docs) is NOT compatible with the 5800.

Question from USA owner of a 5800XM:
I have a 5800 (have owned about a week). I have been trying to figure out how to open and read Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files. The the threads above say to go to Menu>Download>Applications>Business, but all I have on my phone when I select Downloads is the Ovi Store. When I then select the Ovi Store, I can find nothing regarding the Qickoffice reader. Nokia support on-line keeps assuring me the 5800 will open and read these files. However, none of their instructions to download the Quickoffice reader have been helpful?
Can any of you help me?
Thank you,
Elston

Any idea if you can download quickoffice via Nokia PC Suite?
Seems so backward that you have to search and download it... shouldnt it be there?

i went to the OVI site.... and it says lots. but its very very very slow!!!...
i see this "files" area where i can view PC files... but nothing to download...

I felt the same when I surfed Ovi. This is my first nokia phone, so I've got pretty much lost.
I did not use Nokia PC Suite, I downloaded the application directly on my phone.
I believe this is the easiest way. Once you download the application, your phone will prompt automatically for installation. Once connecting your phone to any network, you can try it.
If you prefer to downloading it on your PC, then go to the following address.
http://www.quickoffice.com/download/S60/4.2.368/Pr
Open the link and save it on your computer, and then you can send it to your phone via Bluetooth or USB whatever you like. Once you open the file from your phone, installation will automatically start.
Good luck!

If you want to read PDF file on your phone, I believe you have to purchase the license.
Still, Quickoffice offers trail based version. You can download it from your phone.
But I was told there are some alternatives available, such as PDF converter, ireader, yongreader, etc.
In fact, I do not have adobe reader on my phone either.

Is there any free alternative?
