Nokia 5800 - Structure of the internal Memory

Hi,

I run Y-Browse on my Nokia 5800 and I see four disks :

c:\

d:\

e:\

z:\

I know that the disk e:\ is my memory card but what do the others disks ?

Thanks.

ThieRy

Re: Nokia 5800 - Structure of the internal Memory

Here is the rest. Your ROM contains all your Symbian OS. [Entire firmware]

You never use ROM because it stands for Read Only Memory, so can't write it.

You always use RAM (Random Access Memory), there are two "type":

a.) persistent storage

b.) runtime memory

Re: Nokia 5800 - Structure of the internal Memory

Thanks guys for these informations !

@petrib : I'm going to read your interesting post.

Maybe I will find the solution to recover my icons in the bar contact ?
Perhaps do you know the names of the files corresponding to 4 icons of the bar contact ?
With Y-Browser, I see that resource files have the extensions : *.r01, *.r02, *.r03, *.r04, *.r05 and *.r13.
What is the significance of these extensions ?
Another question : Can I see the content of Z: from my PC ? if yes, how ?
Last question (for this post ;-)) : Does it exist some documentations about these topics (the internal Symbian) ?
Thanks for your response.

.r01, r02, etc., are different language versions (translations) of the same resources.

Re: Nokia 5800 - Structure of the internal Memory

With the advent of phones that have their own on-board mass storage such as the N95-2 and the N96 (and a memory card slot in some cases, like the N96), I'd add this:

C: is the phone's non-volatile RAM
D: is the volatile RAM
E: is the internal mass storage
F: is the memory card (if there's a slot and a card is inserted)
Z: is the filesystem in ROM
