Nokia 5800, Packet Data Connection Not available

Hello,

Recently got a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone, and am having trouble connecting to the internet.

I can connect to the internet using my own home network, but cannot using o2 Active (I'm on o2)

I recieved a text message from o2 with the correct (apparently correct, should I say) settings for internet, but when I try to connect I get the error "Packet Data connection not available"

Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried running the sett. wizard on the phone-it usually will set everything using the SIM provided by your carrier ??? If not, go on the carrier web page and try searching for the correct settings-they usually have them listed.

Re: Nokia 5800, Packet Data Connection Not available

Hi Eleni1992

Go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations - you may find that access point sent by network provider resides in "Uncatagorized" - if so highlight it > Options > Organise > Move to other dest. and move/copy to "Internet". You can then prioritize connections within this destination to make say WLAN  "Priority1" if you want.

Your 5800XM defaults to using "Internet" destination without asking unless altered.

Happy to have helped the forum in a small way from 2007-10

Try this - Go to settings-connectivity-destinations-internet-options-delete , then delete all your access points. Turn off phone and remove sim. Start phone without sim, once stat up has finished remove battery, leave for a couple of minutes, re-insert sim, start phone and go to menu-applications-phone setup-sett.wizard and let it run, if it says settings already defined ignore and con tinue, let setup wizard work, but when you get to define mailbox stop it (unless you want to define a mailbox) Now go to your homescreen and select web, phone should ask if you want to choose a connection, select ok and you should be ok !(not stating this as a great fix, but I've been having problems with connecting the communities app all day, and this solved it !)

Good Luck
