Nokia 5800 - Froze!

My nokia 5800 has froze, and the screen is just plain white with the nokia logo on (similar to that when the phone is normally turned on). No buttons are visible. I have tried removing the battery for a few minutes, then putting it back in and turning on the phone again. This does not work, as the white screen with the nokia logo on comes up again. Help, please! Thanks.

DId you install any software or do anything different before (or the day before) the freeze?

 

If not try this:

 

Remove the sim, memory card and battery again. Leave for 5 mins then insert the battery only. If it works switch off again and put the sim and memory card back in.

 

If that doesn't help your only option is to hard reset the phone (sadly all user data will be erased).  See the link below for instructions.

If that doesn't help your only option is to visit a nokia care point for assistance.

Ok try reseting your phone by hard reset.

Before perfoming this please take a backup of your data.

Factory defaults-
Type *#7780# on your standby screen. 
This will reset all your setting to default factory settings. User data wont be affected.

Soft reset-
Type *#7370#
This will reset the phone as well delete user data. Use when want to format the phone.

If none of these worked then you might want to do a hard reset. 
For this you have to-
1. Switch off the phone.

2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.( Just in case of N78 it will be the multimedia key the small silver key on right side & for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up).

3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button to switch on the phone.

4. Release the buttons when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.

But if your phone isn't having V20 and above then you cant do it. The only option left it to go to a Nokia Care.

Thanks for your help. I'll try what you've suggested.

 

Directly before the phone froze I was using 'Mobbler', and I was trying to add a song to my playlist. The phone then just went black, and then onto the white screen with the nokia logo. I dont know if this makes a difference. Thanks.

I doubt that mobbler would be the cause so it's probably just a random fault.

Okay. Ive done what you said and my phone seems to work fine now. Thankyou so much for your help. Phew, i thought i'd lost my phone for a minute there.. :smileyhappy:

my phone froze when someone was calling me the screen was not responding the phone would not stop vibrating and the speakers were not making any noise and it woukd not turn off when i pressed the power button on top of the phone so i took the battery out and put it back in and the phone worked perfectly  

 

 

 

 

does anyones phone lag when they try deleting privacy data after browsing the web on wlan??
