I was able to install the latest firmware by following the steps given below.
1. Uninstalled Nokia PC suite.
2. Clicked on uninstall option for OVI Suite in Windows and it gave 2 options. I selected to repair OVI suite. It took nearly 15 minutes to repair it.
3. Launched OVI Suite and checked for update. It backed up data and then installed the firmware perfectly. Total time it took was around 15-20 minutes.
4. Everything works perfectly except songs are not there in music player. But it is there in phone memory card reader. There is no other data lose.

i have a problem with this phone just recently.

i used this phone for approximately 2 months, and recently, whenever i enter the gallery, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive or something.. cuz it takes quite a while to notice my actions. not only that, but when it notices and starts whatever i want it to do, it starts lagging alot. For example: when i try to scroll through the photos, it takes alot of time to notice i want to scroll through the photos, and when it does notice, the scrolling becomes really laggy.. however, this problem only occurs in the gallery for me. PLZ help me solve this problem!!

i'm using 5530 for last four months. After updating the firmware v.30, i'm facing a strange problem with the time settings. Whenever i set the local time of Bangladesh, the handsets adjusts the time at GMT +07:00 instead of GMT +06:00. and after setting the time manually and then whenever i restart my phone, it sets the wrong time again back. I talked with nokia care, they advised me to downgrade the firmware v.10. So, i'm thinking that nokia is the only company, who advises his customer for not getting their updated support. I hate nokia.

i bought my 5530 just 1 month before...but now its on repair..so many lines of red,blue n green colours are appearing when i switch it on. n gets switched off...

One I also noticed something like that on my phone..... I formatted my memory chip... And after that it was OK.....  Just give it a try....... Back up all the stuff from your gallery. (Example - photos, mp3s..... )

I've had the music player control buttons not whowing too. But I still have one bug, even after the update.

Sometimes when I want to open "Applications" folder in main menu. It doesn't open it but just selects it. Then I have to click it again. I think it's related to the scrolling, when u select something while scrolling it won't open, just highlights.

Me i got a problem with my nokia 5530 and i saw on many forum that many people have this problem.  When launching camera i can recorde video without any problem but when switching to photo mode nothing apear, it enter the software to take the photo but no image appear on the screen.  There are many people discussing about the same problem for the 5530 ?  what the problem with this mobile phone.   I try to update the firmware with nokia ovi software updater, it update the phone but camera problem when in photo mode is still the same.   Nokia please dont tell us to go to the nearest service centre. Because here in mauritius it cost a lot of money.   I think that nokia fail on this model.  To many people having similar issue... ps: hard reset did not work
