Next Nokia Flagship phone??

Hi there,

So I am getting tired of my N97, and wanted to change it.

Whats the next big phone Nokia is planning to release? And more importantly, do you guys think I should buy it after what they did with N97, or go with a completely different manufacturer (if so, what do you guys recommend?)

Thanks

Re: Next Nokia Flagship phone??

Who knows what's coming up?. I have a n97 myself, and have experienced tons of bugs and issues. I am not happy with it, but If Nokia came out with a new flagship, I would be interested. BUT I would not buy it on the day of release. I would wait at least 1-2 month(s) and see what it's like.  And I am going to have a good look at the pricetag first.

You do whatever you want. I don't know if I will stick with Nokia or not. Let's wait and see:smileytongue:

I had the N97 and didn't have too many issues and enjoyed it as a whole after a bit of tweaking.

What really dragged the N97 down was it's homescreen widgets. Certain combinations of widgets, especially those that maintained a constant internet connection made the phone perform like a real dog. I tended to stay away from connected widgets and used the built in ones such as shortcuts/contacts but this kind of defeated the point of the widgets. After that the phone performed pretty well.

I've since moved on to a Nokia X6 and found it to be a very well built device that performs well. It may not be flagship or top of the range but it does do a few things better than the N97.

For example:
Audio quality is better through headphones and way better through the speakers. You could says it's nokia's current music flagship.

GPS performance is much better, more accurate with a stronger signal.

Camera is as good and doesn't suffer from the flash ghosting that effected some N97's.

Has around 285mb of free phone memory, so well over 200mb more than the N97.

Nokia's next big "flagship" is likely due sometime between July to September and will have the new symbian^3 operating system on it.  Unfortunately we cannot discuss more specific rumours here due to the rules.

As for other brands you really need to visit other forums that aren't associated with specific brands to discuss those. By it's very nature this forum is generally negatively biased.

Re: Next Nokia Flagship phone??

I'd wait untill the next generation comes out, and then wait a few months to see the bug reports !:smileyvery-happy: I;m pretty happy with N97 for now (good job 'coz I'm tied to it for another 14 months !) I really love the form factor, touch screen and qwerty with the tilt. I'm really keen on the media side of the phone and the web experience (any phone will call and txt) and I really hope the N XXX is similar to N97, but with a really fast processor (nokia just got snapdragon ) at least 3 times the phone memory, a capacative amoled screen of just over 4 inches ( I think that's about as big as you can go and remain 'pocketable'), improved speakers, even better than N95, and a camera with 10 megapixels or more and a processor and lens to make it work well, and finally a battery that can go strong for at least 48 hrs whilst constantly connected to the internet. That would be perfect for me, and hopefully the next generation of software will make it all work together faultlessly.(in landscape AND portrate mode)

Maybe just a fantasy, but think within the next 12/18months it's possible, and maybe even likely, who knows ?

Re: Next Nokia Flagship phone??

Currently on the N97 not at all happy with it but love the form factor, I've tried out a couple phones with slide out qwerty keyboard and non come close so I hope they build on it and bring out a phone that the N97 could have been let's call it N97 Version II

cheers
