I agree, I am very underwhelmed by the upgrade. After waiting 6 months since the last one I was expecting bigger changes.
Surely these upgrades should be used as a way of getting closer to the next phone, i.e. N97. That was going to be my next phone but unless it has major, major changes over the N96 I won't bother.
Do like the open slider sound, but it is a bit delayed. Browser still slow though.

I thought it was a standard UK unbranded Nokia N96 but it is still showing version v12.043
tried both methods no luck
Is your phone from the Carphone Warehouse, if so they have there own product code, which tends to lag by a few weeks in getting the update, just keep trying
As for those finding problems with there phones being slow, under v12 and v20, have you tried either a factory or full reset, as I have no problems with the speed of response of my n96 under either of these levels

Hi Synth_fg
Yes my phone is from CPW but before I orded it I was assured by CPW it is a simfree unbranded and unlocked N96.
I phoned CPW the other day about this and they said they were unaware that they were being supplied with non standard Nokia phones and any Nokia phone supplied by them on 02 should be one of the first to receive updates as they already come with standard unbranded firmware.
I tend to beleve CPW because if you google 0573063 and update, there are quite a few people with this firmware who say they bought there phone from a Nokia Store
When I ordered an unbranded N96 I expected to be ahead of the game with the lastest updates - not last to the party

You won't be last to the party,
CPW unbranded phones just have a different product code to some of the european vanilla's that are available and tend to get there updated released a week or two after the initial roll out
It would be incredably dumb of Nokia to release a new firmware to every possible product code in one lump. Rolling out in stages is a much more sensible way of doing things
And if you think you are unlucky, consider the poor buggers with branded handsets, some of them are still waiting for v12

Hi, I am currently having issues with my N96 running v12.043 with no updates currently available.
What is FOTA that keeps cropping up in here? I've tried NSU with no luck.
Many thanks.
