First encounter with this wierd problem.
Open messaging, select my Gmail (imap) account, select connect......"out of memory error".
Tried 3 times, same error.
Used "App Stop" application from Ovi store to kill all apps.
Tried to connect, same error.
Shut off & restarted phone.
Tried to connect, ok.
Any idea what is wrong?
Just having way to many problems with the N97mini. ![]()

Could be as the error message says. The phone could be low on memory. Have a look at the link below for suggestions on how you can free up some memory.

Memory leaks from applications gradually fragments memory so when a new application is run it either cannot allocate the contiguous blocks it needs for operation or simply fails to launch because there is insufficient contiguous memory for it to load.
Pretty common in poorly written apps and in embedded platforms like phones with limited memory. With more memory, it just takes longer to achieve fragmentation. Power cycle cleared RAM, so all will be well until the same apps are run again and the memory leaks return.
I used to keep my N97 mini running for months w/o restarting (some will ask how I was able to do this, but that is another story), but eventually I too would get this error. How frequent will depend upon the apps being run and how much allocated memory they leave behind when they exit. Apps should not have memory leaks, but this could be dependent on how S60 manages memory for applications. It may be doing a poor job as well and not cleaning up.
To avoid, power cycle on a regular basis. You may be able to find an app that will track memory useage and provide sufficient info to let you know in advance that it is time to power cycle.
Never really bothered me much as my N97 mini (as is my N8) was very reliable otherwise. Still awesome devices when you consider all that it does in such a small package.

Thanks for all the comments.
Looks like regular reboots will be good for the phone. Any simple way to schedule daily reboot?
Maybe Nokia should incorporate feature to reboot periodically as a workaround to the inherent platform deficiencies.

A daily reboot may be a little extreme unless you are experiencing serious memory leak. Once every couple of days may be more practical or like me you could wait till the slows down a bit. You could also try to identify the culprit and see if there is anything you can do about it.
I have had my N97 Mini almost a year. I would generally carry our the procedures mentioned in the link above once every couple of weeks and have yet experienced an out of memory episodes.
