Hey, I was looking for some confirmation from others about this. I tried to make a call this morning by doing exactly what I would do on my E71 or N95 when a contact has multiple numbers:

1) Opened up my contacts.
2) Clicked a contact with multiple numbers, that already had a default one set.
3) The main contact screen pops up that shows you the picture of the person and gives you 4 options of things to do.
4) Because I wanted to call one of the other phone numbers, not the default one, I clicked the tab at the top that shows you all the contact information you have for said contact.
5) I then clicked the number I wanted and then clicked the call button.
6) Nothing happened. I kept clicking it thinking it didn't register and still nothing happened.

I tried this for 6 other contacts who have multiple numbers with defaults, and I even tried it with contacts who had only one number. I'm not allowed to make a call that way. The only way to make a phone call to a contact with multiple numbers is to not have any defaults set so when I go to step (3) above, I have to click "Voice call" and then select the number I want to call.

This **bleep** me off like nothing else after I discovered this. So before I go have a pleasant conversation with someone from Nokia I just wanted to know if this is the same for everybody else.

Yeah. Open up the contacts list. Double tap a contact. Then select Options at the bottom, and then Defaults. Then you can click the things the show up to set the default number for MMS, Calling, Email, whatever.

Hi there,

Similar issue can up with MMS/SMS'ing to non-default numbers (Clicky...)

You need to use the same process, ie...

Open Contacts >> Open the contact you wish to phone >> With Voice Call selected click "options"  >>  "Select other number" >> then just pick the number you want to call.

Slightly easier than SMS/MMS'ing as Voice Call is at the top of the list so selected by default

That does help. Thank you. My other option was to not set any default for the number at all, which would show me all options when I tap voice call. Still, it's a stupid process that I hope Nokia knows about and should change to how you can make a call on the E71 or N95.

I updated to the 2.0 firmware and now I cant make phone calls it says NOT ALLOWED.  I also cant use maps even after updating and deleting old files.  Someone please help.

Yes, I am getting the same issue... I was pumped for the update and after I completed the updated to v2.0. I can not make a call... what is going on.  I am about to call nokia help desk...

Can't dial any number even using the phone dialer pad. (NOT ALLOWED)

Incomming calls are not signalled though the phones cellular engine is actually receiving it (try to call your own phone from another phone).

3G service is signalled as available but no connection can be established.

Wi fi AP detection but no wi-fi connection.

Looks like the phone is disconnected from the communication engines just like if it was ... a phone simulator. 

If anyone reading this did sucessfuly update to V20 pls inform.

I managed to get phone calls back after a Full Reset. then lost it again after reinstalling the WeFi application.

It may or not be a coincidence. I had to Full Reset the phone again but I didn' t try reinstalling WeFi and so far so good.

May be a tip to track down this issue.

I've just upgraded from 11.xxx to 20.xxx and am also completely unable to make voice calls. I get a 'Not allowed' message and a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark. This is really serious for me as I depend on this for my work. I can get text messages and I can send them and the WiFi works OK. Where are NOKIA and why the Heck doesn't their helpdesk work over the weekend.

OK Guys ........ I have just bought an N97 and it got connected yesterday. This morning I was offered the Ver 2.0 upgrade and guess what - suddenly I couldn't make calls at all. Texts no problem but no calls whatsoever.

After a bit of research using google I came across suggestions that you needed to do a full reset after the upgrade ... *#7370# from the homescreen.

I tried this and can now make calls .... GPS was also affected but this is back as well.

I have yet to see whether there are any other problems.

This is so weak solution of Nokia, my loyalty to Nokia is sinking like Titanic.

Nokia somehow things that we the users are some kind of SUPER NERD.

thanks - that works. However to be clear it will wipe out all the data on the phone (not on the memory card)
