Hi all. Have a problem with a N97. Make lots of phone calls daily. every 1-2 days have a problem whereby as I am using phone to call the screen goes black (proximity sensor turns off screen when next to my ear), but when I take phone away from my ear screen should return to normal, but instead screen stays blank. If I turn phone on side (portrait mode) I can see the right hand half of the screen only, but can't use anything. Only way to fix is to turn phone off and back on again, very annoying !!

I already have current Australian software installed which is 20.0.019, phone is only about 3 weeks old.

Any ideas, is this a software bug, or do I have a faulty handset ??

Try this.

Go to Settings -> Phone -> Sensor settings

and set Sensors -> off

and from Turning control uncheck all.

This also seems to help for Nokia tune problem where phone rings nokia tune instead of custom ringtone.

i am also having the same issue. the screen goes blank when i am in the call -incoming or outgoing. the screen does not come back till the call is over
