My girlfreind is in my favorites correctly. I will send her a text message and the report confirms her name etc, in the sent items its her name as detailed in contacts, but if she texts me only her number is shown! Everyone else who texts me name is shown correctly so it only affects her?
Her number is DEFINATELY correct in the phone book. Ive reset the phone and deleted and re-entered her contact info... Any ideas?
Ive not heard anyone else mention this.. Its only a mild inconvienience but annoying none the less.

Thanks for the reply. she was on there more than once but i deleted t
the duplicate (it was on Sim card and in phone memory when i syncronised from my N81).
Ive done the search and the last 4 digits of her number only occur once... Could it be the search utility isnt searching the sim card or something (although im sure that has been wiped now)
I always enter my number +44 (uk dial code) and 3 and 4 dont apply.
She is on the same network as me (voda) so not a strange length number.
Any other ideas? I like the idea of a duplicate, that makes sense but i cant find it using nokia search.
Also the search widget is usefull, N81 had it on the 'desktop' I cant see a way to put the search on the N97 desktop though.. is it just me?

Actually its worse than that.. it now affect all message i receive. as before my drafts, sent items and notifications are fine, but the when i receive a message from anyone (including myself!!) the number is displayed instead of the caller id..('my mobile) is a number in my contacts list..
This makes the phone useless becuase i can never tell who contacted me. Ive got no ideas at all what i can do... Any suggestions?

Let me guess - you're on a carrier specific product code?
This happened with N79/N85 carrier product codes, specifically with Optus, 3 and Vodafone N85s. Only fix at the time was to get Nokia Care Centre to reflash with Generic firmware.
In a nutshell, to confirm that you have no duplicates, does the caller ID work for phonecalls but not for messages?

I have the exact same issue. I have de-duplicated my contacts via Outlook and re-synched. I'm on Vodafone ( UK) network. And yes, the caller id works for phone calls but not for messages...
Any tips?

Well i got mine working again. Basically i deleted EVERY contact off my sim card and did the facroty reset (*#7380# i think). Then i put all my contacts on the phone.
No idea if this is true, but i think it might be because ive had my sim card for ages and the phone book is in a different format, perahps the N97 is just less tolerant than other phones. Either way that worked for me
Note 1 ) I defiantely didnt have any duplicates on my simcard, but i deleted all contacts anyway
Note 2) i actaully took a back up of my contacts first in nokia suite 7. Its seems to be smart enough not to copy the contacts back to sim card if you set the phone to phone memory only
