HI Guys,

 

My N97 is a RM505, with the Product Code: 0575744.

 

I checked via the Nokia site, the latest F\W update available for my product code and it said its Version 12.0.024. But I see members of this board talking about a V 12.2.024. Are there two diff. versions of V12 update?

 

I believe my N97 is one of those generic models and I know for sure that it is SIM free. So was wondering what’s going on.

 

Any ideas?

well..not sure abt d improvements with d update..but yet thr has been a major collapse with d update...flash lite player is not at all working is any website now...all i  get is a broken image of flash...extremely disappointong from nokia..

Ok we have got a new bug from Nokia. hope nokia fixes this asap.

Are you sure about that?

NAM variant phones often have Vxx.2.yyy firmware while the int'l version is Vxx.0.yyy.

Correct, the NAM variant is 12.2.024, the chinese variant is 12.1.024 and the standard variant is 12.0.24.  The correct way to refer to this new firmware is v12.x.024.

So it is available for all three versions of the N97.

Hi grschinon, probably your right but if both Vxx.2.yyy and Vxx.0.yyy are functionally same (in terms of improvements and bug fixes) then I find that version numbering system quite confusing as for an ordinary person like me, Vxx.2.yyy is certainly looks like a newer version than Vxx.0.yyy. I'm sure there's a good reason behind this.

Hi adrianhughes, thanks for your input but I've seen in more than one place the new f\w version# as 12.2.024. Its highly unlikely that all of them are making the same typo, but who knows.

The same numbering system applies to all recent NAM and Chinese firmware for other models too.

yeh sorry for the wrong information Member2009, Psychomania and Grschinon are quite correct. sorry too to your guys, i guess i'm just used to seeing so many firmware version numberings that may be correct or incorrect that i get confused haha. ohwell, learn something new each day i suppose

This is not correct.  12.0.024 is for RM-505 phones  12.2.024 is for RM-507 phones.  Logic suggests, therefore that 12.1.024 would be for RM-506 phones.

No typographical error - the version is specific.

yeh au_n97_user, i already apologised 4 hours earlier for my mistake. i know i made a mistake, please don't go identifying it as you did in the other thread about the ranters and the whole issue with kudos. not that i don't accept full responsibility for my actions (plus i don't have control over who gives me kudos anyway), just that unless the quality most of my posts is rubbish (read all 1500 posts of mine and make your own judgment), it's a little unfair to pounce on every mistake. if i'm wrong, i'm told off initially by the senior users anyway.

I was trying to apologise - sorry if I got that wrong.  As I posted here - I SHOULD have read the whole thread efore I posted - and sometimes I don't even read the names, just the content.
