N97 Weird power problem

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have a Nokia N97, I always use the data cable to charge my N97, yesterday when I was on a holiday a weird problem started, when I tried to use the mobile, the white screen with Nokia logo appeared, then turned of completly, I thought it might be because of low battery, when I returned home plugged my mobile to the data cable and laptop and left it for 2 hours, thinking that it might have been charged and then I tried to turn on, nothing comes up on the screen, the other weird thing is that when i connect my data cable to the phone and laptop, i see that the Windows detects the hardware but after a few seconds says its disconnecte, this happens continusly till i disconnect the cable completly, the light near the cable connection is turned on when connected. Please help, i tried the battery removal, the master reset 3 keys + pwr on trick but didnt help, still unable to power on :smileysad:

Also, when I connect my data cable, the charging screen doesn't come up, when I press and hold the powert button when the data cable is connected, it only vibrates but no white screen with nokia appears, and the phone doesnt even vibrate when i hold the power button when the data cable is disconnected.:smileysad:

Yap, I know what you are talking about!

Same thing happened to me so many times. Hard reset is the only solution. Formats, reinstalls and all other stuff that come in mind do not help permanently. Believe me, nothing you can do!

Three generations of FW suffered the same problem.

N97 modules were developed in different parts of the world as they claim. Imagine how it is  difficult to connect all those modules in such small housing and make them work with each other! No way.

Here's my advice: take your #$%^ing phone to official repair centre and let them know what  you think about N97. My N97 has been in repair centre since March 3 this year! No chance they can repair it. Ask for new one or go for another phone, N900 perhaps...

Re: N97 Weird power problem

Yeah I know what you mean it does suck. Mine's been in for repair three times and Nokia refuse to give me a refund. The only thing they say is send oit off for repair AGAIN. How many times do people have to send their phone for repair before they acknowledge the problem and recall this excuse for a phone. What a total piece of junk this phone is, a glorified paperweight thats all. Nokia should sit up and listen to the 1000's of people who have complained about this phone but no all they do is take your money and deny all knowledge. Best thing to do is get rid of it and NEVER buy Nokia again.

@Navcool: Does your friend still have the receipt for the n97? Maybe you could get your friend to take it down to a Nokia care point?

Re: N97 Weird power problem

Now this is really weird, yesterday night I tried something different, instead of plugging in the usb datacable in the regular USB slot of the laptop i used a different slot, and to my surprise i saw the nokia logo and the charging indicator on the mobile, I left it for charge the whole night and today morning I unplugged the cable and tried to turn on, i got the vibration when i held the power button but the screen black, before that i saw red blue green lines on the screen and nothing after that, I than did the master reset and the device started without any issues. I really don't  know what happened, but this was all i did to get it back.
