Hi there,

My keyboard seems to be all messed up. I press 'M' and it gives me a full stop, I press 'A' and it inputs a 'Q'.

There are numerous errors like these that make writing a text message a for longer process than it should be. I have looked all through the phone and cannot find anything that allows me to map keys or whatnot.

Wierd issue. I have never heard of this before. When did this start to occure? Have you done any specific to your device right before it happened?

Have you tried to turn off your device, remove the battery in 1 min and turn it on again?

I cannot remeber any settings allwoing to map keys either, so I think reverting settings to factory default would do nothing, but you could try that.

I have only just bought the phone after my old N97's backlight went. I've had it a few days and its been like this since day 1. I thought I would just get used to it, but its getting more and more tedious.

I wont even go into inputting symbols using the shift key. They are all wrong pretty much.

Ive tried everything you suggested except the factory settings, but would that lock the phone to a network?

No, that should not lock your phone at all, either should it delete anything except reverting settings to factory default.

Where did you buy the phone btw?

A second hand shop called CeX.

They usually factory reset all phones they get as part of their quality testing process anyway so I assumed it was when I bought it.

Just courious, what options do you get on your phone when you connect it to a computer through usb?

Just the usual PC Suite, Mass Storage, Image and Media transfer.

Whats the default code for a factory reset? I tried 1234 and 0000.

Okey, but clearly things aren't as it should be. What I suggest is that you take it back to the shop and get a new one, however, since it new there is a few things you can do without too much hazzle; update your device or reinstall the fw if possible and/or do a hard reset (which will wipe your phone memory, so if you have anything important on it, you will have to back it up.

If this does not fix it, you will have t get replaced or fixed as something isn't as it should be.

Factory reset would be *#7780# and soft reset (which wipes your phone memory and a back up should be done first) is *#7370#. Default lock code is 12345 if you get asked for that afterwards.
