Hello
I am trying to view missed calls on my N97 and get the following message every time: Log; Memory Full close some applications and try again.
The phones memory is: C: Phone Mem : Free 24.7mb, E: Mass me: 29.5gb and F mem card: 301.9mb
When i go to show open apps i only have the three apps which are on the front screen and menu and home.
I deleted all texts but still nothing.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

clear your browser cache as well
set your messages in messaging - options- settings - other to 999 and e memory.
restore factory settings *#7780# default code is 12345 that might just might help you a bit and turn off and on your phone when you do all these things see if it helps any.
if you have nokia messaging that could be why you are having issues as it stores all data in the c memory
If this post answers your question, you can help others by clicking the green accepted solution' button. Thanks much ! You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me !

Please note that the "Memory Full, close some applications and try again" are not refering to C:, E: or F:, or any other drive. It is referring to RAM, which is another story.
You can clean C: to your hearts content, and it won't change anything with regards to this message.
It is all about the current use of RAM memory. And RAM memory is used by open applications, which is why the message says that you need to close some applications.
Alternatively, there might be a bug somewhere that causes a memory leak, in which case a restart of the phone probably is the best course of action.

same problem on n85. can't browse call log b/c of 'full' message, even though i only have about 2-3d worth of calls, with occasional sip: calls. tried clearing browser cache, and also set messages on sd card. there was a time when i downloaded a large pic file from an email attachment onto phone memory, and i'm not sure if that was deleted, even though i deleted the email account. where on the phone memory are attachments to emails stored?
thanks!

I have no applications open and it still says "memory full". I can't open anything to try to delete anything either. I'll reset the whole phone again, but if I have to do this every time I run out of memory, I think I have more of a doorstop then a phone.
..It's amazing that this phone was allowed to leave the factory with so many problems.

Had to send the thing back to be fixed about two weeks ago - still not got it back.
Thing packed in badly got to the point where nothing would work apart from just about being able to make a phone call on it.
To be honest the phone was an anti climax when i first picked it up - wow it has a lot of memory but fail to see what else really - not much of a step up from my trustee N95. Was expecting a lot more. Shame.

why why why does thenokia messaging store everything in C ? i paid every hard earned rupee for the 32 gb. Use it !!
Restoring to factory settings, eh ? Isnt it some kind of joke on users of this flagship. The factory reset and hard reset are akin to overhaul of the rubber boat thats in the docks always. It raises the doubts if this flagship will ever sail ?
We have had a n73 m for 2 years now, we have done all sorts of browsing/downloads and never once we have needed to clear the cache ! i dont recall having done it. how come the n97 is so very messed up ? from the very same nokia.
I have had no apps running, no home screen widgets, it fails to load my contacts on not one but two of n97 units - gives a memory full error.
Forget all the fancy promises this hardware gives. Take this challenge, tell us how many contacts in the phonebook can the n97 handle?
lets accept it my friend, nokia seems to have missed the mark. Hope the firmware 2 will resolve the pains !!

I just switched from blackberry bold to N97 (after using blackberries for 6 years)
and i am thinking about returning to the store and begging them to take it back.
I did all the things mentioned, reset, etc....
I have a contact base of over 3k and when i search, say "m" to find contacts starting from m it says memory full...
I can't believe it! a blackberry could hold over 10k without an issue, even the older models like 7150.
I just made a big mistake, i feel bad for all nokia smart phone owners...

Dear Friend I am using N97 with Free memory C; 39.5Mb E: 27.5GB and F : 7.3Gb. This problem is due to memory card. It seems RAM do not have enough capacity to handle memory card. I had always encountered this problem with memory card installed and never had it when memory card is removed.. Just remove memory crd. clear cache and see the results...Amol

Hi there peeps,
to fix this, go to messaging, then settings then other, then change directory for messaging to expaned memory i.e the 32gig drive, not c:
et voila!! I guess nokia should set the messaging to d: by default. maybe an idea nokia guys.
happy texting folks.

I totally agree. This is a memory management bug where there is a leakage that has not been resolved by Nokia. Even with the latest update v22.0.110 11-06-2010 RM-505 did not resolve it!!
Even people with this problem:
Re: The Solution of ( N97 system crashing - self r...& red lines then restart )
is coming from the same memory management bug. Only thing you can do is switch off and switch on again. Sometimes its totally hang where you need to remove the battery and put it back again.
Waiting for Nokia resolution!!

Ok guys... So here is my story and the problem that makes me sick.
We usually have about 70 MB free on the c:
So after using it a while and installing some apps on e:, and i go back to see how much space i have left on c, it becomes smaller and smaller!
I said, usually we have 70mb, but after using the content copier to get all my contacts and messages on e: back, i go look at c: and see its at 40mb!
Now, **bleep**?!
And u keep surifing the net and install normally some apps on E, but still see c get smaller and smaller till i once had 800kb left (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
So what to do? Have to reset it from time to time to get that 40mb on C back...
I have been so damn fan of Nokia, but this REALLY SUX!
WHY do we have 32GB free on E and only this little **bleep** 70mb on c???? Why cant it be like 30 GB on E and 2 GB on C? what would they loose if they do that?
Wating for an answer nokia faaans!
(Excuse my anger)
Regards
