I don't see that this has been reported here yet, but the Web applet has a bug when you add more than two RSS feeds that you no longer can access the feeds, yielding an "Unknown error" message when trying to get to the RSS feed screens or trying to add a feed.
This also seems to cause the Facebook, AP, Accuweather Live Widget and any RSS feed that you try to add to the Home Screen will default to a permanent "Loading content" (blank) display.
This is a serious problem and needs to be resolved.

Did the firmware update for my N97 NAM...didn't fix the problem.
Did a SOFT RESET.
Didn't solve the problem.
The WEB APPLET RSS Feeds seem to be locking up the entire Live Widget feature of the Home Screen.
Will somebody at Nokia P-L-E-A-S-E get on this?!?

Another follow-up...
I backed up everything EXCEPT my Web Bookmarks to my F: drive (micro SD card).
Then I did a HARD RESET (*#7370#) and restored to FACTORY SETTINGS.
I then did a restore from the backup.
Still no luck....Facebook and Accuweather home screen widgets still hung. Web gives an "Unknown error" on RSS feed selection.
I browsed the phone memory in Mass Storage mode with my PC in the Private folders and couldn't figure out which one might be the RSS feeds.
Anyone have any suggestions to get this phone working again?!?

I had ...or maybe is still having this issue (?). Just upgraded to the new firmware, which is supposed to fix it. Well, so far so good, but we shall see. If I dont see this issue anymore for the next 3 days or so, I will consider it fixed.
I have fbook and accuweather on the homescreen. No AP, no RSS.
I think the widgets froze due to temporary lost of connection to 3G/GPRS network. My carrier is AT&T and at my house, the signal for 3G/GPRS is not that good. Then I decided to turn on WIFI at home, ever since I did that, the widgets froze less often, it only froze when I was at work. Now that I have the new firmware installed today, we'll see if the widgets still freeze at work.

I as well have an issue with my widgets that needs resolved. I was installing Garmin Mobile XT onto my N97, and it didn't install correctly. Nor, would it uninstall correctly. So I formatted my Mem. Card, and reset my phone to fact. settings. Totally uninstalled my Garmin, but now my widgets are NOT able to be loaded on my home screen. I have lost my Accuweather, Bloomberg, Facebook AND AP News widgets. . . Is there any possible way to get these apps to restore and be able to be on my widgets screen? They are on my phone as I downloaded them from OVI, but they will not "widgetize" or give me the option to choose them from "home screen- Options - Edit Content - Add Content " Can you please help me? These widgets were the main reason I bought the phone. . . .
I updated my FW to the newest (11. xxx) but it didn't reload my widgets. ( I Thought it would ).. Any ideas?

hey there!
new here but found this thread with google. i got the n97 today. got all my date on it etc. surfed a bit and stuff.
so far everythings good. accu weather works and the others i treid no prob.
only problem i have is the facebook app.
when i want to log on i get:
Scriptsignal:
An Error occurred, status: undefined
So I can't use it. Is that the same problem you guys have?
I translated the error message from german. Too lazy to switch the phone to english
. sorry.

Not the same problem....the Facebook script error is usually that your wireless access point hasn't sync'ed yet to pass along the script to log you in to Facebook. Either that or you haven't yet entered your login information in order for it to log in and update.
Our problem is a persistent "Loading content" on the subject widgets. Clicking on the widget does NOT bring up the application, so it is "hosed". Applications can still be started from the Applications menu, but no updating to the home screen widget is done.

Oh okay....sorry for that
.
Hmmm.....Facebook doesn't want to log in. Not with a 3G connection nor with wireless. And it should work with 3g as well right?
I have to have a look at the apps. I haven't switched the phone of and so for they work fine.

On the same lin: I uninstalled Facebook to resolve this "script error" by reinstalling it. But now I can't get it anywhere. Anybody out there who knows where to get it from ? Its not in the ovi store, at least not for the N97.

So I tried it. Switched the N97 off and back on. I only have the Accu Weather app on the HomeScreen but what do I see? Yep: Loading. I waited like bout 20 minutes...nothing happend. I only get the weather by opening the app and tell it to get the data. Afterwards no Problem.
Bout Facebook I was thinking bout uninstalling and reinstalling but as google didn't show me any downloads I didn't.
I also thought bout reinstalling the N97 software via the PC Suit but as there are so many with this problem I don't think it would help.
Hopefully Nokia know bout this and will fix it.
I also got teh bug that I have to lock and unlock twice so the light goes on -.-
Fix it guys!

I have gotten around this problem.
SOLUTION:
1. Do a HARD RESET to Factory settings.
2. Do NOT restore from any BACKUP (the corruption comes back!).
3. Configure your phone from SCRATCH and set everything up using only your wireless connection (not WiFi).
4. Do NOT, repeat NOT use the Web Browser for RSS feeds.
4. Once all applications are up and running using only the single connection, THEN and only THEN start configuring your WiFi and Destinations list.
Started on this task last night and everything is running 100%.
I plan on using only Opera Mini for my RSS feeds until Nokia fixes the bug(s) in the Browser.
