N97 LOCKS WHEN USB CONNECTED AND SLIDER LOCK KEY WONT UNLOCK IT !

N97.

When you connect the N97 via USB to a computer, whether it be ovi, mass storage, etc. mode after a few seconds the phone locks itself and you can not use the touch screen.  Then none of the keys work except the menu button whether you disconnect it or not from the usb.  At this point all the menu button does is light up the screen and say use the slider lock to unlock.  But this button does not work at this point!  I have to take the battery out after I charge the phone via usb to get the phone to work again.   Anyone else with the same problem?

What the heck?!  Any solutions?!

ps.  Give me back my pencil button!  Im selling my brand new N97 and going back to my N95!!

Re: N97 LOCKS WHEN USB CONNECTED AND SLIDER LOCK KEY WONT UNLOCK IT !

Okey, It should have been less than v21.

Have you installed any apps that might cause this issue? If you'd remembered installing apps right before it started to act wierd...?

I suggest you do a soft reset ( diall *#7370# securitycode 12345) and format mass storage memory and memcard if you have that too. This should clear any glitches and make sure it won't happend. (remember to backup contacts, messages, calendarnotes etc with ps suite). As these steps will delete everything.

If the problem persists you will need to take it to a Nokia care point and let them have a look at it.

i had a similar problem and i just turned the auto key lock off and then set it to lock the phone when i closed the key pad.

and as good as the N95 8gb was i wouldn't give up an N97 for one

Re: N97 LOCKS WHEN USB CONNECTED AND SLIDER LOCK KEY WONT UNLOCK IT !

Same here. Only way out is to open the phone and disconnect battery. I have this about one a week. Did also have that once after reset, with no other application loaded into phone.

In addition i have very often USB-Charging problems, which i thought might be somewhere in the same root-cause-area...... sometimes with exact same configuration (same notebook, same cable, same phone, no app running) i plug into usb and nothing starts. No connection, and no charging... also no led on at usb-connector. Even rebooting phone or notebook helps.
