Currently onto Nokia (phone never answer) line.... going to try to find out what is going on... or at least a date for it's release... I have been holding for 15 minutes!!
I would have thought that Internet radio would have been a minimum, in-fact I was wondering how it would be improved on the N97..
JUST GOT THROUGH--- same ole same ole 'we will be getting it, but when we don't know'
Not good enough Nokia!

I agree this is rather bad, but the FM transmitter is a nice addition. Not that its a replacement for Net radio in anyway!
AND where is the Home Media function for sharing over WIFI?
Has anyone found that!

yes i totally agree that not having internet radio for an internet phone is more like a joke lol but i managed somehow to make it work with Real Player built in the N97, well at least till they hopefully realize they should release an internet radio version for N97
what i did was this :
1) Opened an ORB account at http://www.orb.com/
2) Downloaded it / installed it and run it on my PC and shared all my music that i might want to listen to with my nokia N97
3) Went to http://mycast.orb.com/orb/html/index.html from my PC and on top clicked on OPEN APPLICATION / AUDIO
4) Under Internet Radio, I added my favourite channels ( Like DI ocal Trance and URL:http://scfire-mtc-aa02.stream.aol.com:80/stream/10
5) From N97 i went to http://mycast.orb.com/orb/html/index.html and logged in and went to radio stations i added.
6) Clicked on the radio station i wanted to hear and Real Player starts playing t after
This method works as long as your PC is on and it is running ORB

OK peeps,
the only real alternative until Nokia get their act into gear....
http://download11.getjar.com/downloads/web/pub/592
It does work, in my opinion a little lacking compared to the Nokia, but to be fair, I have only been using it for the last day, works well in the car, it does drop occasionally, but it's mostly fine...
But, give it a go, let me know if it works for you, or if the link dont...

Or have a look at these, some of them won't work, and I haven't tried them all..
But seem internet radio downloads seem promising.

I think that they don't want any free music from the internet radio rival their music shop. Or maybe they had a little backstage talk with the major cell phone carriers. I bet they had the internet radio not in their equation for flat rate data plans. What other reasons could they have for even stripping the real player from nearly all features that support streaming media like inet radio?
What ever reasons the might have had, they failed in their effort to keep the N97 internet radio free:

(A S60 5th port of the open source version of the Nokia internet radio)
Looks a little old school but works perfectly well.
Problem solved! ![]()

I agree with you. Nokia has gone extra mile avoiding their customers.
I am really upset with nokia for the first time. And I am not going to buy another nokia in my life. I have also updated my blogs and other people about not taking Nokia mobiles.
They have cheated users.

You are completely right, I never thought I would be able to say anything bad about Nokia, but they have really let us down, N97 is like having the best looking partner, but they are so stupid they are just embarrasing.
Memory problems - Always filling up - even with the solutions which NONE of us should even know how to do.
NO INTERNET radio - This should be standard, instead I had to buy it.... and even now, I can't use it at the same time as my maps or navigation in the car whilst driving! the CPU can't take it.
The camera doesn't even seem as good as the N95...
It keeps forgetting the Email I have set up, thought it was me, but clearly not given even the briefest look at the forums. the Widgets (what there is available with the pile of useless rubbish availble) downloaded from OVI keep crashing, and I no-longer trust the Facebook application
The touchscreen interface in some places requires a double click! WHY NOKIA!
For as many years as I can remember, myself and my partner have insisted on Nokia, not anymore.
