Stupid question but I can't see where the user manual address this but...
How do you delete an email account on the phone. I created a duplicate account on the phone and now want to delete on them.
Suggestions?

Thanks so much for this.....any idea with my other probem......getting the APN setting to show up.
I do the following:
1. settings
2. connectivity
3. admin settings
I want to change the APN settings but nothing shows up. The only thing I can think of is my mobile shop did not properly change over the default settings which were on the blackberry...
tks

- From the Email launcher screen on your device, select the Settings icon.
- Scroll to the account you want to remove.
- Select Options-Remove mailbox.
- Select Yes.
Hi Jimmy - I accidently ended up with an email account on my C:\ drive and I want to delete it, but I don't seem to have this remove option, or I'm not folowing your instructions properly. By Email launcher, I assume you just mean Messaging?

I had the same problem is not very straight forward.
To delete an email settings in your N97 do the following:
1. Menu
2. Messaging
3. Options
4. Settings
5. Email
6.Mailboxes
7. Select the one that you want to delete
8. Options
9 Delete
I hope this helps.
I guess they don't make it easy so you don't delete it by mistake.

Glad to help guys.
I rather rely on others N97 users help than the Customer Services from Nokia or my Network

I'm still having troubles. After I click on options, all I see are buttons for "show open apps, open, create message, connect, sim messages, operator messages, service commands, font size, settings, help and exit."I don't see a delete place anywhere.
I tried calling nokia custumer support three times, two of the times the agent put me on hold for over 15 minutes before I hung up.

I'm also having a great deal of difficulty deleting my redundant mail boxes too. I keep following the instruction but never see a "delete" option, have I disabled it some how? My path is:
1. Menu
2. Messaging
3. Select Mail box
4. Press Options
5. Then Setting
6. Then Email
7. Select Options
8. Then Open
9. Highlight the Mail box
10. Go to Option
From here all I see on the list under Options is: Show open apps, Open, Help and Exit. I feel like a muppet!!

I was a muppet, at point "6" I should have just highlighted the top one "mailbox" (not the sub boxes), then clicked options.

I don't think you're a muppet at all ... I don't see "Mailbox" anywhere.
1. Menu key
2. Messaging
3. I see New message, inbox, Ovi Mail, Bad Email Box (the one I'm trying to delete that appeared automagically and wants to be the default), Good Email Box (which I set up & which works), Sent, Drafts, Outbox, Delivery reports, My Folders
At no point do I see "Mailboxes". If, as the user guide says, the sequence is
1. Menu
2. Messaging
3. Mailboxes, (in which case, it's perhaps the list of existing mailboxes?),
I tap on the Mailbox I want to delete
4. Tap Options and again, there's no delete

Just follow asandino's excellent list above, is it that hard to follow?
1. Menu
2. Messaging
3. Options
4. Settings
5. Email
6.Mailboxes
7. Select the one that you want to delete
8. Options
9 Delete

I assure you I'm not a smart alec user. But YOU were the one who chose this thread in which to post your query. You might have had the decency, and the good sense, to read the contributions before posting. How did you arrive at the conclusion that the original question had not been answered, if you did not read the postings?

typothecary, I think the apology should be from me for confusing you. I was struggling with resolving it myself at the time. Unfortunately, I’m unable to delete my post as not to confuse anyone else.
Once again, I apologise.
Kindest regards, Nicola.

That's very kind - but not to worry.
I'm getting used to being humilated by a telephone. It's certainly not your fault that I can't read properly. ![]()

I got the word "Mailboxes" because I have two emails account, I guess if you only have one then it would say "Mailbox"
In your 3rd step you missed to select the "OPTIONS" and then "Settings" after that go to "E-mail" and just then you will get the word "Mailboxes" or Mailbox" then after this you select the one you want i.e. "Hotmail" and after this when you go to option again you will see the DELETE option.
if you follow all the steps you should see the word.
The only thing I could think of is that the word "Mailboxes" is not appearing in your phone is if you have not set any Email account in whichcase you should not need to delete one I guess.
I hope it help, let me know how it goes.
Glad to know that even that I have been away from the forum my post still helps some people
