I recently upgraded to the new v12 firmware and it seems it was a downgrade rather than an upgrade. Here is a list of bugs that started showing up after the "upgrade" to 12:
- Unlocking slider bug is back
- Sometimes when replying to an SMS, the new SMS window comes up, but nothing can be typed, you have to close the message, and hit reply to again
- Sometimes, when viewing a message in portrait and you tilt the phone sideways to use the keyboard, the screen rotates, but instead of seeing the controls on the right side, you see the main screen of the phone with the background image and widgets on the right side and the SMS message covering the left side of the screen.
- Sometimes out of the blue, the Connection settings inside Mail for Exchange disappear and the synchronisation is set to manual. About twice a day I have to go back to the setting, enter the access point and switch to "Always on" again.
That's the list for now. Please feel free to add to it

The unlocking slider bug were suppossed to be fixed in v11.
The rest I have never experienced having them.
Maybe you outta take your N97 to the NCC for a complete format.
Note: your data will be completely gone and maybe guitar rock game gone also.
If that doesn't help maybe NCC can replaced/repair the phone.
The only thing that I have noticed which I think Nokia should look for future firmware is that the battery drainned slighly faster than before in V12, and I only have Nokia Messaging and Taskman running in the background.

The unlocking slider bug was fixed in 11, it's back in 12.
It's too funny. I don't get Nokia. How much patience do they think we got?

The list continues:
- after connecting the N97 to a PC with USB the Message memory switches back to C:. That also never happened before, so it's clearly a new bug introduced in v12

- I m not sure if it is same as unlock screen bug, but phone freezes sometimes when trying to answer a call. Then you have to reboot.
- Also today I was writing an sms, when the screen got dark, then phone restarted itself !
- Is it necessary to tap*#7370# after firmware update? because I dont see it on nokia site.
Regards

My bugs are as follows for version 12.0.024
-Cutting numbers with the internatioal extention within the contacts renders them un-pasteable losing the important contacts.
-changing the predictive txt word within the writer then adding grammer like the question mark copys the word twice and adds them on to your text. Also, when you hit plus button to add a symbol it changes the text to the next word and upon pressing back-space it refuses to acknowledge it for change back forcing you to delete the word and rewrite it!
-The fataly flawed lens cover.
-After accidentally adding my country wrong at the begining I was unable to change it with out a hard reset and resultantly was consistently redirected to a foreign language version of the websites i wanted to view.
-The facebook widget never showed any updates on the main page.
-Can not scroll sideways through the photos like the n97 making navigation slow and cumbersome.
-Horrendous ovi store excuse for an application store
-The web browser sometimes refuses to get past the white screen during its startup (since the hard reset this hasn't happened, although it has only been 1 day).
-The drawings saved with a messy noise around all the lines drawn.
-Guitar game has no audio even when audio option is set to on.
-Guitar game is gone after hard reset (among other things)
Perhaps one or two of these might be my own doing, I restored a backup of my n95 data, user files, contacts, bookmarks, settings, calender, notes and messages before I even used it (this was the only way to get my contacts back for me)

oh, and I can't add the plus symbol on my international numbers within the touchscreen input method.

I share your thoughts exactly! This phone with stupid amount of RAM is a joke! I have never been more sorry in my life than purchasing a N97. This phone is struggling to RUN! I checked the free RAM of a phone in a Nokia flagship store it had 24mb free RAM.. How can you even display that phone only first time phone buyers with no idea about system configuration would buy the phone! My phone (after disabling all advertised wigdets etcc) only have 45mb free ram after boot. This is half of the amount of free RAM on N95 8gb. I knew that they would come up with a better version of N97 within 6 months of this **bleep**. If I know anything N900 must be a free gift from Nokia to all N97 users.. To Fix their mistake! Yes it is a HUGE dumb mistake to produce a phone with funny amount of free RAM. This phone is total garbage. Everytime I use it I am having very hard time that it is actually a Nokia device.. My favorite company in the whole world has ruined my trust and love for them. Pity

I upgraded to V12 a week or two ago. My impression is that it has become slightly more stable in V12, but if we should list bugs, I have one as well. I did a hardware reset and reinstalled software after that, so this phone is as straight as it can be.
When I use the lock slider, the phone used to give a short vibration as a confirmation that I had operated the slider, this has stopped.
Yesterday, it stopped working with GPRS. I couldn't establish any connection over the air. Wifi still worked fine.
I had to restart the phone, and everything was back working again. I've had this with V11, but I don't know exactly what triggers it. It only seems to happen when I have had the phone running for a few days (which might be why I seldom saw it in V11 as I usually had to restart it more often with that version).

For me;
- Sometime the phone will say that it can no longer access the F: drive (miniSD), making it switching to E: mass storage. This seems intermittant.
- The haze produced when the flash is fully lit up. I doubt it is a scratch issue.

- Phone restarts at a random rate (after sending SMS, after answering a call, after posting a tweet, after listening to a song, after playing a game - no, there's no time frame on this).
- Phone can't connect on PC Suite mode (if I go to ovi suite, it asks me to change the type of connection - yes, I did select PC Suite).
- When deleting a program the menu isn't updated and it's on a locked state. I can still click (and feel the click) but nothing is really selected..
The N97 is an impressive phone, but not with those weird bugs.. BTW, that happens on my GF 5800xm also, so it's either a S60v5 bug or a Nokia introduced bug.. ![]()

1) regarding inserting (+) before the internation phone number, when i make a copy of a number preceeded with + , it cant be pasted in another field of phone detail, but it works with email field. there is any solution for this? it means that i have to insert (00) instead of (+) before any phone number.
2) As i have mentioned in anther posts, why Nokia didnt make anything in this new firmware regarding (edit labels) in contacts? it is so vital for us when we have many numbers under one name. It does exist in Nokia N95 80GB, and completely ignored in N97!
3) in Contact as well, i used to make a certain number as (Default) among others in one contact for easy call. but when i want to call a different number it becomes impossible, I have to go to option > Select other number..etc. while in N95 i dont face any problem. Imagine how can we manage in car driving on a high way at 120 km/h speed to do all that to call some one important!

I don't see any improvements. and any bug fix.
- Answering calls when the key is locked, shows that someone calling and cannot do any thing, only reboot
- I unlocked the key to answer, and it hanged, need to reboot (it happened with v12 only)
- Once the battery went, and I plugged my mobile to the charger and switched it on, all my SMS messages were deleted, how???????
I think nokia should release a new upgrade for N97 with the new OS using MEAMO
So please NOKIA
