N97: Connecting a Wireless Keyboard Automatically

Hi,

A problem that I would very like to solve is connecting a wireless keyboard to the phone automatically.  At the moment the wireless keyboard works with the N97 but it requires me to go into the application and find the signal and reconnect it that way.

My N95 would be ready to type when I unfolded the keyboard and hit any key, and I would like that to carry across to the N97 if possible.

Some details:

  • I'm using Nokia Wireless Keyboard S60 3 1.31(5) which allows me to type just fine.
  • I'm using an N97 with v20 firmware, though this problem has occurred with each firmware version.
  • I'm using a Think Outside Bluetooth Keyboard I got from Dell with their Axiom Pocket PC.
  • The keyboard is sending the signal to the N97 and I can see Bluetooth Icon pairing with the keyboard, but the Wireless Keyboard Application maintains that the keyboard is disconnected.
  • The Wireless Keyboard is set as 'Authorized' under Paired Devices on the N97.
  • The Wireless Keyboard Application is set to 'Auto-Start On' and New Connections is set 'Don't notify'.  I've tried using the Confirm and Notify settings and while the N97 asks if I want to accept the connection from the keyboard, it still won't type until I've found the keyboard via the application.

I've read many forums and directions including "How to use Bluetooth wireless keyboards with the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic" and while each person describes it as "working perfectly" I don't know if that means that they're happy reconnecting their wireless keyboard each time they want to use it.

Thank you kindly for your time.

Re: N97: Connecting a Wireless Keyboard Automatically

I don't know about the Dell Keyboard, I've tried it a few times with the Nokia SU-8W. I think I need to manually connect it, but can't remember now.

It may be possible as the Keyboard application was never designed to work with the N97. I guess it's a plus that it works at all.

Anyway, no solution.
