I think my problem had not been discuseed before. I had this wired problem, whenever I power off my phone, there are 60%-70% chances that the phone will not power up properly. What I mean by not powering up properly is that the phone will power up, then the NOKIA logo will be there for around 10 seconds and then AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF. I am not talking about hang at NOKIA logo.
I just had to kept trying for 2 - 3 times (sometime more, around 5-6 times) till I got it power up properly.
In between those tries, I had done nothing to the phone, no battery or SD Card removal.
I tried firmware reinstall, hard reset and etc.
The problem will come every now and then.
Anyone faced the same problem before?

I am having this problem as we speak, trying to turn my phone back on, and I honestly do NOT want to hard reset it.
I have tried to turn it on like 10 times so far, and I'm not giving up until it turns on

I'm having similar issue with my 5800 XM [with v21 FW].
The phone sometimes hangs at Nokia logo while powering up!
It works if I take out memory card. But sometimes it works fine with same memory card.
The phone has become hit and miss object.

You can take the battery out for 10 mins or so - then keep doing the on/off thing - might come back up, if not make sure you try this a few times to get it right - it is a tricky one.

Hi all,
I have faced this problem several times with my N97 v20.0.27 RM-505. I didn't have it previously. I did all I could to restart the phone but it didn't work out. Then I had to hard reset the phone. Surely, I couldn't backup any data because this sudden automatic shut down was unexpected. I lost all my data so I hated everything. I also tried to reinstall the firmware. I didn't work either.
Finally & after a hard reset, I had to reinstall some of the application that were lost due to the hard reset. I was thinking it's either the firmware or an application installed on the phone that causes this. In fact, I figured out that it's a matter of a compatibility issue between an application & the new phone firmware. I came up with this conclusion after I hard reset the phone, installed the application one by one, & after each application was installed, I tried to turn off the phone & on again so to see if it's that application I just installed causing this issue. Then, everything went fine with all my applications. I installed them all one by one, then turn off then on my phone & the phone restarted successfully. It was until I installed Garmin Mobile XT that I knew before hand that it's still non-compatible with my N97. It is then I turned off the phone then on, BUT it didn't restart successfully. In fact, it didn't turn on by all means. So I came up with the conclusion that maybe it's this software Garmin Mobile XT that caused this problem.
This is what happened with me. My phone is working perfectly now but without Garmin Mobile XT. Honestly, I do not know for sure if it's really Garmin causing this or not, but I have a feeling it's a compatibility issue between the phone firmware & any application that automatically starts when the phone starts. Therefore, you may not have Garmin Mobile XT installed but still you may face the same problem.
My advice is that follow the procedures I did although it's hell time consuming & then check which application is causing this, if any.

Well, it is amazing that you actually tried all your apps one by one.
However, I am sure it is not due to all applicaton compatibility issue because I had this problem right after hard reset without installing any application.
I start to feel that the firmware itself having some problem.
God bless us N97 user..........

Well shsiow, you can't imagine the hell I went through really..
You maybe right though. I didn't face this problem with v12 even though at then I installed & turned off & on my phone successfully.
If you are still facing the problem try to uninstall the applications before turning of the phone & hard reset. It could be an application that automatically installs its from the Mass memory after a hard reset. This may surely cause the problem just immediately after a hard reset.
I'm afraid it's purely a firmware problem because then, we have to wait until a new firmware comes out, & this is another waiting hell... Right?![]()

Exact same thing happened with me, pricemarvin. I wasn't sure if it was the Garmin Mobile XT until I read your post. Thanks.
Good to hear that it solved it.. We are all here to help
Well, It's surely a firmware issue, since I previously had Garmin Mobile XT installed & working perfectly with v12.
And dohc95coupe, since you had it on your N97 mini, are you still having the problem of reboot? Which version of Garmin Mobile XT is installed on it?

Hi @all!
At first I do not have the new firmware because I have the product code 0586701 but I had the problem several times, too.
The first times I did a hard reset and it worked very well, but to reinstall the whole applications were very annoying.
Then I tried to remove the micro SD card and it worked. The reboot was done without any problems. After the reboot all applications are there (from C: and E

Hi all,
The problem I am encountering is slightly different. I power up my phone it starts and is in the standby screen but will restart almost immediately, twice in a row. This has happens thrice. The phone then works fine.
I am also encountering another problem when I wanted to link up to a WLAN get an error message' General: Memory full close some applications and try again' there were no other applications running. I close what loads up at the start up (Clock, Messaging, Contacts, Log) with Taskman. The only way to solve this is to power up the phone again.
These did not happen before only after updating to V20.0.019. I just updated the firmware about two weeks ago.
I believe it has something to do with the firmware itself. I am feeling very uncomfortable. I hope an updated firmware will come very soon.
