Hi there,

been a long while since I have visited here, good to see this place is going from strength to strength!

I have been a habitual Nokia user for the last few years. I just got the N96 from the Carphonewarehouse. I am on O2 (hence cpw) and has, I would imagine, custom cpw firmware.

I keep missing calls due to the ringtone being incredibly low. Today it stopped vibrating completely. Does anyone else have this problem at all? For emails and SMS, its fine so I know the speakers and vibrator are ok..

Try making sure that the 3d ringtone option is set to OFF. 3d Ringtones mute the ring volume of the phone for some reason. This is (I believe) a known firmware issue. Access tones from tools>utilities>3d tones and turn them off. I found this to be the case on my N96.

Yes, it was a known bug that was fixed in firmware v11.

Updates to v11.018 are available by FOTA rather than NSU. Enter *#0000# to get your current firmware version and, if it's v10, then, directly from that screen, do "Options" and "Check for updates".

The update itself is about 3MB in size and you can pull it down either over WiFi or your oeprator's packet data service.

Just make sure your battery is fully charged so that the phone doesn't shut down halfway through the process, and don't worry if the phone flickers on and off a few times. This is normal.

i have 11.101 and same problem. can't hear the phonecalls because sometimes it just doesn't ring and doesn't vibrate either

Just go the manu> tools>utilities>3Dtones and change 3D ring tones effect from on to off. It will work, I had the same problem too.

It's more likely to be a network issue. It won't be the 3D ringtone effect because that was solved by firmware V11.018.

Other things to look for are the profile settings. Make sure the ringtone is not at its highest level and that the ring type is "ringing", not "ascending". "Ascending" means that the ring tone starts off low and gradually gets louder. If it is set to maximum level than it also sets to "ascending" automatically.
