N95 "General: Memory full. Close some application and try again".

I have had my phone for 3 month (it's been unblocked from vodafone to 02). Had no problems till yesterday, can't send text's. No problems with Muiltimedia texting or calls, it's just sending standard texts.

The standard texts are then stored in my out box with the following message "General: Memory full. Close some application and try again".

Phone:
49 MB Memory in use
98 MB Free Memory
4 KB Calendar
68 KB Contacts
40 KB Messages
595 KB Images
33 MB Sound Files
501 B Documents

Memory Card
275 MB Memory in use
213 MB Free Memory
0 B Calender
0 B Contacts
125 KB Messages
13 MB Images
17 MB Sound Files
8279 Video Clips
21 B Documents

I have also check that no applications are running, tested the SIM card in another phone (had not problems).

My softwear details are V11.0.026

Please, please can someone help me with this - have do everything (inc turning it off and on)!

Thanks

Claire

that message isnt whats on your memory card its the amount of memory for an application to start. it means you have too many programs running. hold down the menu key for a couple of seconds too make sure you havent got any programs running.if you havent. take out the battery for fifteen minutes the phone will ask you for the time and date again and your memory should be back to normal. also update the phone software from the pc suite the new software gives you a lot more free memory plus other benefits.

Guys Guys...i had the same problem..the solution is
Switch off ur phone.do a "hard reset" by pressing and holding the green call button, the * button and the 3 button on the keypad and press the power button .At this point u are holding all 4 buttons . If its succesful , once the phone starts up, it will ask for the region selection .

IT WORKS !
Cheers,

Do hard reset if you have 15-25 MB free RAM and see this message- in this case something is wrong. But reseting your phone every time when you see the message-yes this is simple but this reset erase all your data and applications.

Re: N95 "General: Memory full. Close some application and try again".

let me start by saying i've had the same problem 3x times now and had to take the phone back to o2 each time. the last time i took it i had connectivity problems as the new firmware had issues with usb. it was blank when you tried to select pc siute or mass storage. about a month ago the dreaded memory full came back and was at my wits end keep taking it back.
thanks to this forum i reset my phone by pressing the *, 3, green call button and power button and all issues have now gone away. fair enough i lost the applications on my phone but everything is now back to normal and can now connect via pc suite and use my mass storage to put my applications back on. THANK YOU

Quite often you can get rid of the "Memory full" message in S60 phones by entering the Web browser of the phone and clearing the browser cache. Many phones have very little RAM and it's often eaten by the data that the browser has stored in its cache.

This should help in the N95 as well, it has only about 25MB of free RAM after a fresh reboot (the N95-8GB has about 80MB of free RAM). Basically there should be no need for a hard reboot unless the operating system has been totally screwed up by installing some incompatible software.
