N95 firmware - v12?

I've read somewhere about v12 firmware for the N95 but software update is showing my v11 as the latest - so is there a v12 and how do you get it? My main issue currently with the phone is very slow GPS satellite finding which I read may be fixed with 12?

Thats because Orange haven't released their variant of v.12 yet.

Is that the same with Voda then? Can you overwrite v11 Voda with a standard v12?

Only if you change the product code, which will void your warrenty.

But you can change it back after.

How come you have v12 on O2? can you tell me the product code under the battery? It should be similar to mine -0548021.

When & where did you buy your N95? was it from an O2 Store?

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

Those of you using V10 or V11 of the firmware... stay there...

you have a better working phone that those of us who have been able to upgrade to V12...

The V12 may feature A-GPS but it also features an annoying bug rendering the keypad virtually useless to all but the most patient of users... on 1 in 5 keypresses actually register and it seems that while this is pretty much their flagship phone, nokia seems quite happy to us waiting and in the dark about a solution to the problem.

We've been waiting 4 months for relief and so far, not a word from nokia about it...

So please... Stay away from V12!

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

I'm using V12 on O2 and I have no such bug, I think you just have a dodgy keypad. I think I may just be lucky, but with the exception of the lines across the screen when filming in low lighting (much ilder than my housemate's N95 I must say) I haven't had any of the problems that people seem to keep having. It's still early days admittedly, but some of the problems seem a little trivial, I mean some people complain about the programs running in the background but it's hardly difficult to hold down the menu key and shut a few things down.
Anyhoo...

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

I have just upgraded to v12 simply because I wanted to enable the usage of a micro memory card greater than 6gb. Having checked most of these discussions, it was concluded that upgrading the software will allow me to do this. I went home and did a restore to retrieve contact details etc., bad mistake. Now the phone just hangs at every attempt to view my music files on the memory card. Those who have NOT upgraded to version 12 stay away. If its not broken do not fix it, you have a better working phone! *gutted* if anyone knows of a solution, please feel free to join this discussion!

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

Try this,

Turn off the mobile device. Then press and hold “3", the “Green button” and “*” - Turn on and keep holding the keys untill the mobile phone restarts and prompts you to enter details.

Then don't restore again - you will have the same problem!

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

hey, thanks for that, i tried that right at the beginning after finding that on these type of discussions but unfortunately it didn't help! the media gallery is still causing the phone to stall until i come out of it completely and only works for a limited time if i switch he phone off and on again! it's a bit of a pain to do everytime i want to view some music videos though so until then im going to wait for the next patch as i have been told DOWNGRADING will "brick" my phone! :smileysurprised:(

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

do you have any solution to the virtually useless gallery due to v12 upgrade? i recently upgraded with the intention of being able to use a 6gb card, now the phone just hangs everytime i use the gallery. also, im worried about the blurred photo capability another user has described. im not sure if im being paranoid, or if my pictures are coming out blurred! lastly, do you know of any further firmware upgrades please *grovels* im desperate to have a working phone again! *cries*

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

Does the gallery work if you take the memory card out? If it does, it sounds like a fault on the card.

If it doesn't -

You could reflash the phone with the same firmware, but not restore the backup this time.

I have no problem with the v12 firmware. Good luck!

Re: N95 firmware - v12?

my advice is do a backup but not via pc suite
Just drag and drop files from phone to pc
Reformat card(will lose data)
Reinstall firmware(save contacts to sim)
Drag and drop files back to respective folders
See if this works
